I notice last night that someone had put the silt fence back up along Dupre in the area of the Portage Way addition, but not all around Portage Way itself (on both sides), and portage way and Dupre definitely need to be swept. Not to mention the Ojibway portion of the 2d addtion to Eagle Pass. We are working on a response to the issues that you highlighted in your letter. As far as the other 2 issues that you raised in your email of yesterday's date, I will contact the City Engineer about the grading and the contractor regarding the silt fences. If water is flowing into the sedimentation ponds, that's what supposed to happen after rains or spring thaws. These ponds are designed to catch sediment, mud, etc. thereby preventing particulate matter from going into the lakes, creeks and other wetlands. And you're right, that these ponds do require to be dredged from time to time to maintain them so that they continue to cle~ the run off before it get to our lakes and ground water. I spoke to the developer this morning and he indicated to me that the sodding issues should be resolved within two (2) weeks. Paul said that he will drive over to Eagle Pass and check the silt fences. If the silt fences need repair and/or the streets need to be cleaned, he will contact the developer. While all the issues presented are important to us, two require immediate attention by the city: (1) a city engineer and public works inspection and review of the pre-sod grading and drainage of the new Portage Way addition to insure that there won't be future problems with drainage there (these are provided for in the development contract and can be billed to the developer); and (2) immediate enforcement of the silt fencing and sweeping of affected streets by the developer in accordance with terms of the Development Contract for the 2d Addition (Portage Way) to Eagle Pass.
