City of Centerville <br /> Parks & Recreation Committee <br /> February 5, 2014 <br /> representatives of these groups requesting they gy to coordinate their playing <br /> schedules and then re- present their requests to the committee. If they cannot <br /> agree then the Committee would request a representative from each group to <br /> appear at the March Committee Meeting. <br /> 7. P & R Special Event 5k & 8k runs — use of park trails <br /> A Special Event Permit request has been submitted to the P & R Committee for <br /> the 5K & 8K Runs in July. A Special Event Permit request has also been <br /> submitted to the Anoka County Parks and Recreation for approval. <br /> Motion was made by Committee Member Grahek, seconded by Committee <br /> Member Amundsen to recommend to the City Council to approve the Special <br /> Event Permit requested by the P & R Committee for the use of LaMotte <br /> Park and Rice Creek Chain of Lake Regional Park Trails on July 26, 2014 <br /> for the 5K & the 8K Runs. All in favor. Motion passed. <br /> 8. Purchase of popcorn machine <br /> The Committee has been considering the purchase of a second popcorn popper. <br /> The City of Mendota Heights has a large popcorn machine that is for sale (by <br /> auction which ends on February 14th). The ad states it is about 12 years old, in <br /> good condition and working order, not having been operated for the last few <br /> years. A new popper could cost around $500.00 (similar to Committee <br /> Bettingers' popper that he has let the committee use for the past few events). <br /> Motion was made by Committee Member Seeley, seconded by Committee <br /> member Waephe to recommend to the City Council to allocate a maximum of <br /> up to $100.00 to bid on the auction for the large popcorn machine by <br /> February 14th. All in favor. Motion passed. <br /> VI. UPDATES <br /> 1. Council Updates — Council Member Steve King — <br /> NO UPDATE. <br /> 2. Purchase of Benches — P. Palzer <br /> Public Works Director Palzer reported that the eight foot benches are no longer <br /> available. An order has been placed for an additional two (2) six foot benches, in <br /> addition to the other three (3) for a total of five (5) six foot benches. Delivery <br /> should be around May 1, 2014. Also discussed was the placement of some of the <br /> benches in relation to snow plowing hazards and possibly installing posts for <br /> visibility. <br /> Page 4 of 7 <br />
