They are asking that other Anoka <br />County cities adopt a similar ordinance to show the state legislature that cities are united <br />in curtailing state interference and retaining and preserving the local government <br />decision-making process. <br /> <br />As stated in the letter from the City of Andover, some of this interference includes the <br />state's continued insistence of the imposition of levy limits and freezes, the threat of <br />reverse referendum, cuts in local government aids, limitations on a city's ability to issue <br />debt, wage freezes, and other control measures designed to eliminate local decision <br />making, thereby restricting the citizens' and residents' ability to self-determination and <br />local control oftheir political subdivision, be it county or city government. <br /> <br />Should the City Council decide to adopt the attached resolution, copies of said resolution <br />with be sent to the Governor and our state representatives in St. Paul. <br />
