City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />April 8, 2015 <br />Discussion ensued regarding placing alternative restrictions on Glyphosate’s use such as <br />mandatory posting of areas that have been treated by either private property owners or the City, <br />educational promotion, limiting usage times, i.e. evening application, etc. <br /> <br />Council consensus was that no action was needed on this item at this time. <br /> <br />IX. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> <br />1.Colored Concrete Intersections (Centerville Road/Main Street and Progress Road/Main <br />Street) Downtown Area Reconstruction Bids <br /> <br />City Engineer Statz stated that he has received two (2) bids for removal of the colored concrete <br />and replacement with asphalt. He also stated that he received a bid from the City’s contractor for <br />the 2015 Mill and Overlay Project and the contractor completing the CSAH21/Centerville Road <br />Project. Engineer Statz stated that the low bidder was Arnt Construction and he felt that as they <br />are the contractor on the CASAH21/Centerville Road Project they would be more equipped to <br />coordinate traffic control, etc. Engineer Statz also stated that their submitted bid of $122,406.40 <br />and that the County was willing to submit a change form for the work to be completed. <br /> <br />Brief discussion was had regarding differences in the bids, addition of items that were outside of <br />the original bid that the contract felt were needed and types of crosswalk markings. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Fehrenbacher, seconded by Council Member Paar to approve <br />awarding the Colored Concrete Intersections (Centerville Road/Main Street and Progress <br />Road/Main Street Downtown) Area Reconstruction Project to low bidder, Arndt <br />Construction in the amount of $122,406.40 as presented. All in favor, Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />2.Resignation Letter From Interim Chief Pat Devaney, Centennial Fire District <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that Mr. Devaney presented the District with a formal resignation <br />letter stating that he had accepted another position and that the item would be discussed at an <br />upcoming Fire Steering Committee meeting. Mayor Wilharber recognized the work of Mr. <br />Devaney, thanked him for the job that he and Interim Chief Bruder have been doing and wished <br />him the best with his future career endeavors. <br /> <br />3. Planning & Zoning Commission Recommendation Findings & Decision, Conditional Use <br />th <br />Permit Request – 6995 – 20 Avenue South (Mechanical Air Systems, Inc.) <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that the Planning & Zoning Commission held a public hearing <br />regarding the matter, the pending owner was in attendance, the Commission reviewed the <br />presented requirements and made additions, and the City Attorney has reviewed the document. <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that Mechanical Air Systems, Inc. would be utilizing an existing <br />building, employing 14 full time employees, commencing operation as of May 1, 2015 and <br />concurred with the requirements placed in them through the Conditional Use Permit. <br /> <br />Page 5 of 7 <br /> <br /> <br />
