City of Centerville <br />Parks & Recreation Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />March 2, 2016 <br /> <br />Motion was made by Committee Member Seeley, seconded by Committee <br />Member Waeghe to recommend to the City Council to approve the Special <br />Event Permit Application for the August 6, 2016 Fete des Lacs 8K/5K <br />Walk/Run and Kids Fun Run which was submitted by Ms. Kerri Kolstad, <br />the Fete des Lacs Race Coordinator. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />2.Tour de Hugo Bike Ride <br />This event is scheduled for Saturday, September 24, 2016 in Hugo. A copy of the <br />specifics of this event and the registration form was provided to the Committee. <br /> <br /> <br />3.Fete des Lacs Committee Meeting Update <br /> <br />This Committee is comprised of volunteers who are working to make this entire <br />event a success. City Administrator, Mike Ericson is the Coordinator. The <br />following Committees have been developed: 8K/5K Walk/Run and Kids run, All- <br />Star Softball Game, Bingo, Fireworks, Food, Music, Parade, Publicity, Security, <br />Sponsors, Thank You’s & Volunteers. A monthly update will be provided to the <br />Committee. <br /> <br /> <br />4.City Owned/Park Properties <br /> <br /> <br />a.Dupre Memorial – Park Bench <br /> <br />The City Council approved placement of a park bench as a memorial to <br />Mel & Joyce Dupre. The family has requested it be placed in Trailside <br />Park. <br /> <br />The family has requested that the bench be placed in between the <br />Lakeland Circle roadways along Main Street facing Centerville Lake. <br />This location is within the Anoka County road right-of-way and not on <br />City owned property. The family’s request was forwarded to <br />Commissioner Rhonda Sivarajah and the City has been contacted by <br />Anoka County Parks Director John VonDeLinde who reported that they <br />would take the lead regarding purchasing, installation, etc. associated <br />with the bench. Mr. VonDeLinde anticipated the cost to be approximately <br />$1,000. The family has been contacted and they are very enthusiastic and <br />awaiting additional details. <br /> <br /> <br />b.Recycling/Trash Receptacles (Score Funds) <br /> <br />SCORE funds are available to subsidize recycling/trash receptacles. The <br />Committee would like City Staff to inform them exactly what projects <br />SCORE funds can and cannot be used for. <br /> <br />Page 3 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
