City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />May 11, 2016 <br />Administrator Ericson stated that the Council’s 2016 City Focus Goals approved a business <br />retention and expansion project as a high priority and that he has been approached by Hamline <br />University to work with a doctoral student to complete this work. Administrator Ericson stated <br />that they would meet with some businesses in the community, have them complete a <br />questionnaire and work with the MN Chamber of Commerce. Administrator Ericson also stated <br />that the student would be completing a business directory for the City. He stated that neither of <br />the projects would cost the City. Administrator Ericson stated that it is anticipated that the <br />project for the doctoral student would take two to three months, however, she has requested an <br />extension to four to six months. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Love, seconded by Council Member Fehrenbacher to Approve <br />the Agreement for a Business Retention & Expansion Project and Business Directory <br />projects. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />X. COUNCIL & ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCEMENT <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson <br /> <br />a. Centennial Fire District – House/Garage Burn – Saturday, May 21, 2016 (Multi- <br />Jurisdiction Educational Practice) <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson reported that the Centennial Fire District would be conducting a fire <br />training exercise burn on the residence at 7124 Centerville Road and the garage at 1709 Main <br />Street. They provided additional agencies an opportunity to participate. Administrator Ericson <br />stated that the fire will be Saturday, May 21, 2016 commencing at 8:00 a.m. and neighboring <br />property owners will be notified. <br /> <br /> <br />b.2016 Fete des Lacs Committee Report <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that many individuals are participating in the meetings, good things <br />are happening and he will keep Council abreast of the Committee’s progress. <br /> <br /> <br />c.Eagle Brook Church Volunteer Opportunities, May 6, 2016 <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that he represented the City at a recent event and believes that <br />several volunteers will help at the Fete des Lacs Festival activities. <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that the City addressed repeated concerns of a resident regarding <br />the process and procedures associated with appointments to Committee/Commissions. <br /> <br />Attorney Glaser stated that he has hired Ms. Kathy Crane from the County Attonrey’s office who <br />will be assisting him with prosecution cases so that his schedule should be alleviated slightly. <br /> <br />Council Member King stated that the Parks & Recreation Committee has stated that they are not <br />interested in providing amenities on the City owned lots along Centerville Road.
