<br />City of Centerville <br />Parks & Recreation Committee <br />June 1, 2016 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />1.Music in the Park – Mr. Tom Lee was not available <br /> <br />There will be no Music in the Park on Tuesday, August 2 due to a band will be <br />playing in the “parking lot” across from city hall during the parade. <br /> <br /> <br />2.Music in the Park – Committee Member Waeghe <br /> <br />Promotion – discussed advertising and distribution of flyers at the park; also use <br />of the sandwich boards; include information in the final issue of the Friday Flash, <br />in addition to utilizing the city website and reader board in front of office. <br /> <br /> <br />3.Warming House Overhang – Lighting Issues <br /> <br />Motion was made by Committee Member Waeghe, seconded by Committee <br />Member Peterson to recommend to the City Council to approve the purchase <br />and installation of surface mount light fixture (not recessed), with a switch, <br />under the warming house overhang at a cost of approximately $575.00 for <br />the light and approximately $200.00 for the switch. All in favor. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br /> <br />4.Park Facility Permit Application Centennial Youth Football Association <br /> <br />Motion was made by Committee Member Grahek, seconded by Committee <br />Member Bettinger to recommend to the City Council to approve the Park <br />Facility Permit Application submitted by the Centennial Youth Football <br />Assn. (CYFA), for Fields 1, 2 and 11 from August 2 through September 24, <br />2016 from 5 to 8pm on Tuesdays, 5:30 to 8pm on Thursdays and from 8am to <br />5pm on Saturdays. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Eric Simmons will work with the Soccer Club regarding sharing of the fields. <br /> <br />VI. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> <br />1.Thrash Camp X (for skateboarders) ~ Mr. Matt Gustafson & Ms. Sarah <br />Lange <br />Mr. Gustafson & Ms. Lange provided an overview of this event which provides <br />an opportunity for skateboarders of various skills and ages to focus on <br />personalized goal achievement through a 7:1 rider to coach ratio. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Committee Member Bettinger, seconded by Committee <br />Member Amundsen to recommend to the council that they approve this 2 <br />day camp/activity as part of the Fete des Lacs events. They are proposing to <br />hold a 2 day camp on Saturday & Sunday, August 6 & 7 from 10:00 am until <br />2:00 pm at a cost of $99 per participant. All in Favor.
