City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />September 14, 2016 <br />Motion by Council Member Fehrenbacher, seconded by Council Member Love to Approve <br />Res. #16-027 – Approving Proposed 2017 Property Tax Levy with an Increase of $20,000 to <br />$2,704,521. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Finance Director Paulseth stated again that the levy could be decreased in December when a <br />better knowledge of expenditures are known but could not be increased. <br /> <br /> <br />a.Kangas Tank, Inc. Proposal for Watertower Cleaning <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that Staff provided Council with their requested quote for water <br />tower cleaning and the cost could be borne through the Water Fund. <br /> <br />Council requested an additional quote from Staff. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member King, seconded by Council Member Fehrenbacher to Table <br />the Item Until an Additional Quote Could be Obtained. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />3.Listing Change Form & Contract Amendment for City Property – Gaughan <br />Companies <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that the Brokerage agreements for the City owned property expired <br />at the end of August and Staff is looking for direction from Council on whether to seek <br />alternative brokers or remain with the same brokerage firm. Administrator Ericson stated that <br />Mr. Lou Suski was very invaluable to the City; however, he has since retired. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued to opening it up for requests for proposals, potential suitors attendance at a <br />work session, have Staff make the decision, Legal Counsel’s opinion that it was not needed for <br />professional services and a decision should be made having the City’s best interest in mind. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Love, seconded by Council Member Fehrenbacher to Allow <br />Staff to Seek a New Broker to Brokerage City Owned Property. All in favor. Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />VIII. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />1.P & Z Recommendation for Rezoning (from B-1 Commercial & R-3 High Density <br />th <br />Residential to I-1 Industrial) & Comprehensive Plan Amendment – 6867 – 20 <br />Avenue South) <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that the current owner of the property has signed the Request for <br />Rezone Application along with the applicant. Legal requirements had been met and the <br />Commission chose to recommend its passage. Administrator Ericson stated that since that <br />meeting, a Phase I Audit has been completed and the prospective buyer has backed out to protect <br />his financial interests until a Phase II Audit is completed. He also stated that he had spoke with <br />the current property owner to ascertain whether he desire to continue the process of rezoning and <br />he requested to continue feeling that the new zoning would enable a sale more quickly. <br />Page 4 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
