City of Centerville <br />Parks & Recreation Committee Minutes <br />October 5, 2016 <br /> <br /> <br />1. Park Facility Permit Application – Centerville Lions <br />Motion was made by Committee Member Peterson, seconded by Committee <br />Member Waeghe to recommend to the Centerville City Council to approve <br />the request for the use of the Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park on Saturday, <br />October 15, 2016 from 5pm to 10 pm for a bonfire and hayride. All in favor. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />2.Shelving to hold audio equipment <br />Mr. Palzer will evaluate the existing shelving and purchase additional shelving as <br />needed. <br /> <br />VII. UPDATES/OTHER <br /> <br />1. Council Updates – Council Member Steve King <br /> <br /> Council Member King stated that Council had approved the purchase of a $40,000 reader <br />board and they feel that the Parks and Recreation Committee’s request for the old sign <br />would not be utilized to the fullest fashion with the inability of staff to keep it updated, <br />the possibility of vandalism and a location that would be suitable for use. <br /> <br />NOTE: Mr. Palzer provided updates for items 2 through 4 <br /> <br /> <br />2.Rubber Mats – <br />these mats have been purchased and placed by the ice rink and warming <br /> <br />house. The door to the warming house has also been replaced. <br /> <br />3.Photo Sensor – <br />this sensor atHidden Springs Park has been cleaned and is now working. <br /> <br />4.Basketball Court Marking Tape – <br />has been installed <br /> <br />5.Playground Ladder Replacement – <br />the ladder has been received but it is different from <br /> <br />the current ladder. It will need to be modified prior to installation. <br /> NOTE: Administrator Ericson provided updates for items 6 and 7 <br /> <br />6.2016 Fete des Lacs Committee updates – <br />A few things this committee recommended <br />were to have the run start on a wide, flat paved surface, fundraising to be done by the <br />festival committee, Ms. Kolstad & Administrator Ericson possibly look into the <br />feasibility of this committee becoming a 501C3 entity. The date for the 2017 runs have <br />been set for Saturday, July 22, 2017. The P & R Committee members will obtain a thank <br /> <br />you card for Ms. Kolstad to be signed by the Committee. <br /> <br />7.2016 Fete des Lacs final report for the 5k/8k/kids runs – <br />Ms. Kerri Kolstadprovided <br />written reports of the 2016 runs, including the financials, to the P & R Committee <br />members. There were a total of 111 runners, but factoring in the race date was moved to <br />the beginning of August instead of being held at the end of July, probably made a <br />difference because of other runs throughout the Twin Cities areas. She also provided a <br /> <br />listing of her duties as the Race Director for 2016 and a proposal for 2017. <br />Motion was made by Committee Member Bettinger, seconded by Committee <br />Member Seeley to recommend to the Centerville City Council to approve funds <br />Page 3 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
