City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />January 11, 2017 <br />Motion by Council Member Love, seconded by Council Member Koski, to approve the Agenda <br />as presented. All in favor. Motion carried. <br />Administrator Ericson stated that our City Clerk is not here tonight due to the passing of two family <br />members. Mayor Paar requested a moment of silence for our long time City Clerk, Teresa Bender. <br />Mayor Paar stated that Ms. Bender works very hard on the everyday city duties and helps the <br />administrator and stated that our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family. Mayor Paar also <br />gave credit to Administrator Ericson and Ms. Sweeney and thanked them for doing a good job today <br />and this week also. <br />VI. APPOINTMENTS/PRESENTATION <br />1. Res #17-001 – Recognition of Council Member Ben Fehrenbacher <br />Mayor Paar stated that the City would like recognize Mr. Ben Fehrenbacher for his 10 years of public <br />service to the City of Centerville. Mr. Fehrenbacher served on Planning and Zoning for 2 years in <br />2007-2008 and on Council from 2009-2016 and during that time served as a Council Representative <br />and Chair of the Centennial Lakes Police Department Steering Committee along with serving on the <br />Fete des Lacs Festival Parade Committee. <br />Motion by Council Member Love, seconded by Council Member Montain, to Adopt Res. #17- <br />001 – Recognition of Council Member Ben Fehrenbacher as presented. All in Favor. Motion <br />carried. <br />2. Ms. Colette Jurek, Xcel Energy – LED street Lighting <br />Ms. Collette Jurek, Xcel Energy, stated that they will be converting streets lights to LED within the <br />first quarter of 2017. She stated that they received approval from the MN Public Utilities <br />Commission in January 2016 to complete the conversion of 86 lights. Ms. Jurek stated that the City's <br />monthly savings would be approximately 4 to 7%, $515/month and approximately 2,500 kilowatt <br />hours of savings. She also stated that there is no cost to the City and the LED lights have <br />approximately a 22 year life expectancy. Ms. Jurek stated that the contractor, Donovan, anticipates <br />that the work will commence in February and take two to three days. <br />Engineer Statz stated that the lights in the downtown will remain the same as they are a different type <br />of light than the rest of the street lights within Centerville. <br />VIII.
