<br />City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />December 19, 2002 <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg indicated he appreciated the connnents of Staff to the reporter and <br />commented that the agenda of the report was about the state and the taxpayer's league <br />and had nothing to do with the reality of things. <br /> <br />3. Ordinance #72 - By-Laws (Committee/Commission) <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated it is necessary to hold a public hearing when making a <br />change to an Ordinance. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg opened the public hearing at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg indicated that the changes to the Ordinance puts everything into one <br />spot and clarifies some things to make by-laws uniform. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Broussard Vickers, seconded by Council Member <br />Capra to close the public hearing. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Capra, seconded by Council Member Broussard <br />Vickers to capprove Ordinance #72 as presented. All in favor. Motion carr.Jed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />v. COUNCIL BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. Resolution #02-065 - Council Member Nelson <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg read Resolution #02-065. He then commented that approval of the <br />resolution would add a layer to the organization chart to allow for a department head in <br />City Administration as well as Public Works. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra questioned the pay equity grade. Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated she <br />did not have any information on pay equity as she was not given the resolution prior to <br />the meeting. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson indicated Public Works Director/Building Official is Grade 9 <br />and the Finance Director is Grade 8, and the City Administrator is Grade lO. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg indicated the intent was that the director positions would be equal. Ms. <br />Paulseth indicated that Grade 8 was open and she assumed that was where the Finance <br />Director position went. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg commented that salary does not change, it is just a number. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated she had an issue with the fact that the <br />information was not provided to Council prior to the meeting. She then indicated that <br />Council has made a point of stating that it would not act on items placed on the desk the <br />night of the meeting.
