<br />Health FSA: In cases where an' Employee has under-spent his/het: health FSA, <br />coverage generally will only be continued until the end of the plan yeu. <br /> <br />12. EMPLOYEE TRAINING/TRAVEL <br /> <br />12.1 General Policy'':'' Training and Education , <br /> <br />Employees may take advantage of mini1lg opportunities to help them improve the <br />pet:fo.tmance of their present work assignments and to prepare them for future <br />as.~m",ts. <br /> <br />Cost, staffing, benefit to the City, and othet: appropriate issues will be considet:ed by <br />the City AdminiAtra.tor in approving requests or a.s~ing mining. T'ttne to attend <br />required mining will norma.1ly be paid time. <br /> <br />Advance payments may be authorized for conference registration fees. Once paid, , <br />Employees will be held responsible for those fees if the Employee la.te1: chooses not <br />to attend, unless unforeseen circumsta.nces appear such as an illness, death in the <br />family, emergency, etc. Othet: expenses eligible for reimbutsement require receipt of <br />appropriate documentation. Required documentation and receipts vatydepending <br />on the event Meals, lodging and pa.tking require itemb:ed receipts. <br /> <br />12.2 Tuition Reimbursement/Educational Assistance <br /> <br />The City of Centerv.ille encourages its Employees to enron in job related educational <br />programs and may provide support through tuition reimbursement. This does not <br />include reimbursement for textbooks or study materials. Undet: ms regulations, the <br />reimbursement of certain courses must be reported as taxable income to the <br />Employee. <br /> <br />Requirements: In 0Met: for a class to qualify for reimbursement, the fonowing <br />conditions must be met: <br /> <br />. The class/course must be job related; <br />. The class/course must be taken from an accredited institution of <br />highet: 1~1"i1ing or vocational-technical school; <br />.. The class/course must be approved by the City AClminiRttator prior <br />to enrolling; <br />. The Employee must receive a passing grade (C or better) in ordet: to <br />receive reimbursement; . <br />. The Employee must complete a Tuition Reimbursement fottn and <br />provide a brief course outline; <br />..
