<br /> <br />.~entervil1e Committee Repo~ <br /> <br />Public Works <br /> <br />The Anolca County Community <br />Health and Environmental Services <br />Department Is sponsoring the WeH <br />Water Wise (m) promotion to en- <br />courage residents to check the drink- <br />ing water safety of their private wells. <br />The water sample will be tested for <br />total coliform bacteria and nitrate ni- <br />trogen. These are the most common <br />contaminant .problems in private wells. <br />The 3W promotion will take <br />place from Monday, May 7 through <br />Friday, May II, 200 I. <br />Centerville residents will be able <br />to pick up a free well water test kit at <br />City Hall. A laboratory fee of $13.00 <br />will be charged when the water is sub- <br />mitted to the Environmental Services <br />Unit. <br />Please contact City Hall at 429- <br />3232 for additional details. <br /> <br />Parks and Recreation <br />This summer there will be pro- <br />grams for children in Centerville parks <br />sponsored by Wargo Nature Center <br />and the Chain of Lakes YMCA. <br />The YMCA is offering ten, week <br />long camps through out the summer <br />at Laurie laMotte Memorial Park for <br />kids age 6-10. Activities include out- <br />door exploration, sports, songs, <br />drama, crafts and more. Registration <br />is currently being accepted and may be <br />picked up at City Hall. <br />Wargo Nature Center will be at <br />various Centerville parks every Tues- <br />day from I :00-3:00. The actiYities- <br />planned include canoeing and Kayak- <br />Ing. arts and crafts, pond studies, a na- <br />ture scavenger hunt, snake presenta- <br />tion, ecology and playground pmes, <br />biking and swimming. <br />Th. ere Is an age limit and ~.. . <br />a limit on participants. <br />. Please call City Hall <br />for more Information <br />and to register. <br /> <br />City Review <br /> <br />AT + T Broadband came out and <br />repaired our local cable access chan- <br />neL The picture is now much clearer <br />and the Information does not vibrate <br />on the screen anymore. They had to <br />do some work in our AV room and <br />out on the pole behind City HaiL <br />Electricians wired the generator <br />behind City Hall yesterday. The gen- <br />erator is now ready to be used to <br />power the building in case of a natural <br />disaster. <br />Mr. John Magill has offered to do- <br />nate 25-30 trees for the City parks <br />from his farm outside of town. He has <br />also offered to donate the cost of the <br />tree spade to plant the trees. The City <br />greatly appreciates this generous do- <br />nation. <br /> <br />Communications <br /> <br />Task Force <br />Centerville's Communications <br />Task Force has had two meetings, The <br />first committee update will be pre- <br />sented at the April 25th City Council <br />Meeting. <br /> <br />New Lions Branch Club <br />The Centerville Uons Club re- <br />cently approved an expansion Branch <br />Club based in Centerville. <br />The Uons Branch will work in <br />conjunction with the Centerville Uons <br />on some community projects as well <br />as their own. The Branch members <br />will be adopting a roadway along Main <br />St., and a large ticket item to be raffled <br />during Fete des LaCs. <br />The branch club started out with <br />seven members and is growing stead- <br />ily. If you are interested in participat- <br />ing in community service and joining <br />the Lions Branch Club, please call Lion <br />President Jim March at 429-3232 or <br />Lion Branch Coordinator, Karla De- <br />Vine at 407-6950. <br /> <br />Planning and Zoning <br /> <br />Planning and Zoning meetings are <br />scheduled on the first Tuesday of <br />every month at 6:30 p.rn. at City HaIL <br />The public is invited to attend <br /> <br /> <br />EDC <br /> <br />Centerville's Eco- <br />nomic Develop- <br />ment Committee <br />is busy preparing <br />for the annual <br />Business Appre- <br />ciation Dinner which will be held in <br />May. The event will be an informal <br />Bar-b-Que with the Mayor in atten- <br />dance. This is a wonderful opportunity <br />to network with other business own- <br />ers and members of EDC. All busi- <br />nesses in Centerville will receive an <br />invitation along with a survey card to <br />assist the committee to determine <br />where the focus of their energy should <br />be. <br />Congratulations to Wayne <br />LeBlanc (Citizen of the Year) and <br />Goetz Landscaping (Business of the <br />Year)! <br />Economic Development Commit- <br />tee meetings are scheduled at 6:30 p. <br />rn. on the 3rd Tuesday of every month <br />at City Hall. Meetings are open to the <br />public. There are currently three va- <br />cancy on EDC. Residents may submit <br />their letter of interest to City HaiL <br /> <br />Fete des Lacs <br />Centervllle will be <br />hosting a Regional Class <br />o Softball Champion- <br />ship during Fete des <br />LaCs. <br />There Is one opening on the com- <br />mittee. If you are Interested, please <br />submit a letter of Interest to City Hall. <br />FDL meetings are scheduled for <br />the third Monday of each month at <br />6:30 p.rn. at City Hall and are open to. <br />the public. <br /> <br />
