Town Meeting with Senator Jane Krentz
Submlued by Wayne LeBlanc
jane Krentz held a town meeting at Centerville City Hall on February 3, 200 I.
Attending were Senator Krentz, Chris Runquist (her assistant), Council Members Nel-
son, Travis, Capra, and Broussard Vickers. Also in attendance were Wayne LeBlanc and
two other residents from Centerville, along with residents from Uno Lakes and Circle
Pines.
All agreed about the need for better safety at entrance # 123 on 3SE entering onto
County Road 14.
Mr. LeBlanc prepared handouts on a sugested Freeway Interchange at the merging
of 3SE & 3SW and a suggested Pedestrian Bridge across 3SE between Centervllle and
Hugo. These two handouts are available in email form upon request at
"w1centervllle@hotmail.com" or hardcopy by contacting Wayne LeBlanc at 6S I 426-
0168.
The Freeway Interchange was well received, including by the Uno Lakes people.
The Lino Lakes people talked about Anoka County highways wanting to expand too
many roads in their community, but they were in favor of attempting to move higher
speed traffic onto the freeway instead of trying to push it onto some other city street.
There was discussion about a study that found through traffic did NOT contribute to
local economies. In the opinion of this writer there will still be plenty of people who
will prefer to cut through Centerville to get to their destination. The geography of the
area causes Main Street to be heavily used. In any case, all concerns need to be ad-
dressed.
The challenge is in coordinating the interchange with Federa~ State, County and
City Municipalities (Centerville, Lino Lakes, Hugo and perhaps others, etc.).
Mr. LeBlanc also discussed the need for a Pedestrian Bridge across 3SE to connect
trails in Hugo and beyond with trails in the Chain of Lakes Park and beyond.
Suggestions discussed above involve property, which is actually located in Lino
! akes (or other communities) but affect Centerville and the adjoining communities.
/enator Krenz will inveStigate these issues. There will be plans to get together with ad-
joining communities to talk about the needs of the whole community and how these
needs can be met.
There was also talk about possible financial assistance to look at architectural plans!
visions of a Centervllle's commercial corridor at County Road 14 & 3SE. Additional
discussion centered on a number of topics concerning taxes, schools, and other issues.

Lino Senior Center

<in'~6
~,l6 1)t1YS

The Center provides
a variety of activities
for area Seniors.

Please call
612/803-9556
for details and location.

is $eh~"ul~c,{ wr
M~ l~th

md.

M~ 19th
~tm r>r~r>nro~ t>OW wr
w,~hnuoo rIomd,l rtM'nc,{1

~bmittecl bfJ Theresa f5renner-
Communications TaskForce Chaitper80n
Members needed for

short-term pr~ect

Here's 90ur chance to help improve
communications in Centerville.
