HavIng been a social ptherIna place <br />for many years, It was once said that more decisions were made <br />In Kelly's regarding the growth of CentervlIIe rather than In <br />council chambers. <br />Owner, BID BIsek previously owned a highly successful land- <br />scaplng business for the past ten years, and had studied Jaw en- <br />forcement In school, hopina to work wkh juveniles. He never <br />dreamed of entering the hospitality Industry. Through a business <br />COntact, he bec:ame aware of the opportUnity to purchase Kelly's <br />In 1991 and took the gamble which has proven over the years <br />that ftnanc:IaIIy It was worth the risk. <br />BID recalls that for the. 8rst six months he never saw any <br />women enter the doors of the dark, smokey bar. He knew that <br />if he were to succeed, drastic changes would be necessary. Re- <br />modeling took place, changing the atmosphere inside the bar; <br />promotions would be essential to its success; and quality employ- <br />ees would be directly related to the success of Kelly's.
