ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Economic Development Authority The EDA's next meeting is scheduled for December 5, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. Mike Brass (our realtor)is scheduled to be there to discuss the city's various properties. Quad Area Chamber of Commerce I have accepted a position on the Chamber's board of directors. I am eager to represent the city in this group's economic development efforts. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT Comp Plan The Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed proposed changes to the draft Comprehensive Plan related to housing density ranges. These changes allow for a more realistic projection of the number of new homes that may be built on developable or redevelopable land in the city. This information will be shared with the city council at their next meeting,prior to final adoption of the comprehensive plan. Peltier I,Mate Ruffridge Johnson A ribbon cutting ceremony and open house has been scheduled for December 12, 2018 at 4:30 PM. All City Council are invited to attend. Waterworks Site/DeFoe Property Grading work is nearly complete. At the time of this report, utility work and road base construction were within days of completion. It appears that construction will reach a point which allows the issuance of building permits for model homes and/or homes which have already been sold. Old Mill Estates We continue to work with the developer on various elements of the development process. The two homes on the site have been raised and the site is now ready for grading. We anticipate construction to begin in the spring. Block 7 Property The city continues to see interest in the site. Our realtor, Mike Brass has been in regular contact with four separate parties. We anticipate at least three of those parties will follow through with presenting a concept plan to the Planning Commission at the January meeting. We will work with the EDA to plan a joint meeting with P&Z or a separate 65
