City of Centerville <br /> Council Meeting Minutes <br /> September 26,2018 <br /> with late fees. Administrator Statz stated that he was looking for guidance from Council as to <br /> whether they desired to change its existing policy from assessing delinquent charges to shutting <br /> off services. He stated that it has been his experience that once the residents experience the shut <br /> off they have no problem making payment. <br /> Lengthy discussion was had and it was Council's consensus that they did not desire to divert <br /> from their current policy. <br /> 5. Purple Heart City Discussion <br /> City Administrator Statz stated recently there was information contained in the League Bulletin <br /> regarding the Military Order of the Purple Heart and becoming a Purple Heart City. He also <br /> stated that he has been approached by representatives of the Yellow Ribbon organization to also <br /> become active in that organization. He stated that he desired to explore whether the Council/City <br /> also desired to honor their military and veterans in this fashion. He stated that the Military Order <br /> of the Purple Heart will donate parking signs to the City, but he would like to do more in <br /> honoring our veterans and military men and women. <br /> Mayor Paar stated that the City needs to start re-branding itself, and reach out to citizen and <br /> thank them at this is just the beginning. Consensus of the Council was to obtain additional <br /> information regarding the program and begin its implementation. <br /> X. COUNCIL/ADMINISTRATOR ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> Mayor Paar stated that Administrator Statz forwarded his update via email prior to the meeting. <br /> Administrator Statz stated that he has received a concept plan for Block 7 downtown and he will <br /> be bringing this before the Planning & Zoning Commission in October. He also stated that he <br /> has been approached by a realtor regarding the 2.5 acres next to Ruffridge Johnson for a similar <br /> type business. Council Member Koski stated that this is positive news and wonderful for <br /> Centerville. <br /> Council Member King stated that he attended the September 19, 2018 EDA meeting noting that <br /> they held a large amount of discussion. He also stated that North Metro did not have a Quorum. <br /> Council Member Koski questioned Administrator Statz regarding notes on the Local Storm <br /> Water Plan. Administrator Statz stated that there are a redundancy in controls between the City <br /> of Centerville and RCWD. He stated that he would like to become more cost efficient by <br /> combining duties and maybe relinquishing duplicated duties. <br /> Mayor Paar stated that he and Council Member King both attended the EDA meeting where <br /> discussions took place regarding a program offered through Anoka County called Open to <br /> Business which assists business owners in free coaching, incorporation documents, grants and <br /> loans.
