City of Centerville
Council Meeting Minutes
January 23,2019
Motion by Council Member Montain, seconded by Council Member Lakso to Approve the
2019 Fee Schedule as presented. All in favor. Motion carried.
IX. NEW BUSINESS
1. Request for Survey of 1737 Main Street & 1691 Main Street
Administrator Statz stated that with the removal of the residence at 1737 Main Street and the
City's desire to list the two parcels that were obtained from the County in 2014 they should be
surveyed. He stated that he and City Attorney Glaser have spoken about the fact that the County
probably has surveyed the properties but only for boundary purposes. Administrator Statz stated
that he does not desire to spend money unnecessarily but desires to be prepared for the market
uptick.
Mr. Brass stated that he generally will not list a property unless it has a survey as developers
desire to know what they are buying before they expend funds and staff hours. He stated that a
survey is approximately $2,500 and an update to a survey is approximately $6-700.
Discussion ensued regarding whether the City obtained a survey at the time of purchase. City
Attorney stated that the parcels were surplus/remnants from the widening of County Road 14 and
that Staff would research whether the appropriate surveys were on file prior to order new ones.
Mr. Mike Brass stated that an ALTA survey would be suggested.
Council Member Love questioned whether the two bids were apples-to-apples and City
Administrator Statz stated yes.
Motion by Mayor Paar, seconded by Council Member Love to Approve two (2) Site
Surveys for 1737 and 1691 Main Street in an Amount Not to Exceed $5,400 unless Anoka
County Has Sufficient Surveys on File for the Properties. All in favor. Motion carried.
X. COUNCIL/ADMINISTRATOR ANNOUNCEMENTS
1. Administrator/Engineer Report
Administrator Statz stated that his report was in the packet and he would be happy to answer any
questions that Council had.
Administrator Statz stated that Ms. Bender had been a firefighter for approximately three and a
half years which shows dedication to the community along with Staff ensuring that City Hall is
always staffed when staff levels were as low as two (2)individuals. He thanked Ms. Bender.
Council Member Love stated that he attended the recent joint EDA/P & Z meeting where
discussions were had regarding a proposed development for block 7 and he is looking forward to
additional discussions as more than one individual is interested. He also stated that he attended
the recent Centennial Lakes Police Department Governing Board meeting where three (3)
officers were sworn in, three (3) officers received Life Saving Awards and Lieutenant Russ
Page 4 of 7
