City of Centerville <br /> Parks&Recreation Committee <br /> April 3,2019 <br /> V. NEW COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> 1. Ms. Sheri Clausen,Volunteer Group <br /> Ms Clausen is again organizing a volunteer effort to assist the Committee with <br /> park projects (blue bird houses, trimming bushes/trees, etc.), as a group of 17 year <br /> olds have done in the past. Staff will contact her to set up a date and park <br /> location(s). The city will provide bags & filled bags should be dropped into a <br /> dumpster. <br /> 2. MN Timberwolves Fast Break Foundation "Our Courts; Our Future" <br /> An email was received regarding the MN Timberwolves basketball court <br /> renovation program and seeking communities to nominate a park basketball court <br /> to be refurbished this year. Committee members suggested McBride Park. The <br /> Timberwolves and US Bank are working with Sport Court with providing <br /> refurbished courts to the winners of this program. <br /> Committee Members Bettinger & Peterson stated they would check the <br /> availability of any grants and, if available, apply for a grant to cover the cost of a <br /> new or refurbished basketball court. <br /> 3. Park Clean Up Day—Earth Day,April 22nd <br /> Park clean-up/beautification will be scheduled for April 13, 20 & 27, 2019 <br /> dependent on the weather. <br /> Motion made by committee Member Errickson-Grahek, seconded by <br /> Committee Member Seeley to have the Park Clean-up Day on April 13th at <br /> the following parks: Acorn, Cornerstone, Eagle and Hidden Sprints. All in <br /> favor. Motion carried. <br /> Volunteers will be needed. Mr. Statz stated he would include park clean up <br /> volunteer opportunities to the city's' social media page(s). <br /> IV. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES <br /> Motion made by Committee Member Seeley, seconded by Committee Member <br /> Errickson-Grahek to approve the March 6, 2019 minutes as submitted. All in favor. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> VIL UPDATES/ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> 1. Logo Art Contest for Fete des Lacs —Results <br /> Committee Member Errickson-Grahek was one of three judges and the winner <br /> was Ms. Cadence Dempsey, an 8fh grader at Centennial Middle School.
