City of Centerville <br />Planning and Zoning Commission <br />May 7, 2019 <br /> <br />City Planner Carlson reviewed his submitted memorandum with the Commission. <br /> <br />Chairperson Mosher asked for public commentary. The following public comments were taken: <br /> <br /> Mr. Karl Stocker, 7122 Brian Drive, addressed the Commission and stated that he felt that <br />a 4-story apartment building would not be a benefit to taxpayers and he did not like the <br />increased density within the community. <br /> <br />The commissioners explained to Mr. Stocker that the items being reviewed with this public <br />hearing did not affect the downtown area. <br /> <br />There were no further comments from the public. <br /> <br />Motion by Commission Member Broussard Vickers, seconded by Council Member Haiden <br />to close the public hearing at 6:35 p.m. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />V. AWARDS, PRESENTATIONS & APPEARANCES <br /> <br />1. Mr. Jon Krueger, Application for Appointment to Commission <br /> <br />Mr. Jon Krueger, 7368 Old Mill Road, appeared before the Commission stating that he desired to <br />serve on the Commission, he provided background about his education, longevity in Centerville <br />and assets that he would bring to the Commission. <br /> <br />Motion by Chairperson Mosher, seconded by Commissioner Broussard Vickers to <br />Recommend to Council the Appointment of Mr. Jon Krueger to the Planning & Zoning <br />Commission. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />VI. OLD BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. None. <br /> <br />VII. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. Ordinance #XX – Creating a new B-2 Main Street Commercial District, Amending <br />the Text of the B-1 District and Amending the Table of Allowed Uses <br /> <br />The Commission discussed this item previously and again reviewed the submitted memorandum <br />from City Planner Carlson. Commissioners asked about existing uses in the commercial districts <br />that may be affected by these changes. Administrator Statz and Planner Carlson explained that <br />existing uses that become non-conforming due to these changes would retain the right to continue <br />operation until such time as their use changed or ceased for a period of more than one year. It was <br />also explained that the business could be sold to another proprietor and that the new owner could <br />continue the operation as long as the use did not change. <br /> <br />Motion by Commission Member Fehrenbacher, seconded by Commissioner Broussard <br />Vickers to Recommend to City Council Adoption of Ord. #XX and associated Findings of <br />Fact – Creating a New B-2 Main Street Commercial District, Amending the Text of the B-1 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br />
