City of Centerville <br />Council Work Session & Council Meeting Minutes <br />May 22, 2019 <br /> <br />Paar and Council Member Love stated that they desire to start the process and budget for larger <br />ticket items in the future. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Park, seconded by Council Member Love to Accept the Presented <br />Proposal from Lonni Olson Design for Logo Design Services as Submitted. Council Member <br />Montain Opposed. Motion carried. <br /> <br />X. COUNCIL/ADMINISTRATOR ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />1. Administrator/Engineer Report <br /> <br />Administrator Statz stated that he did not supply his report in the packet but desired to provide the <br />following highlights: he stated that Ms. Rhonda Sivarajah is a candidate for the Anoka County <br />Administrator’s position and if appointed there would need to be a special election for her <br />Commissioner seat. He also stated that in 2020 there would be a presidential election. He stated <br />that he has spoken with other local officials who would like to discuss reimbursement for from the <br />County for the election for the Commissioner seat with an additional $6,000 for an election. <br /> <br />Administrator Statz stated that the soil borings have been completed on Block 7 in the downtown <br />area and the water table is very high. He stated that the final report has yet to be completed but <br />this news would not allow for underground parking. He stated that a recent meeting was held with <br />the perspective developer regarding TIF and they continue to communicate on a regular basis. <br /> <br />Administrator Statz stated that the Festival Committee met earlier in the week and finalized a <br />listing of events. He stated that sponsorships will be wrapped up in mid-June or early June. He <br />stated that sponsors will be recognized on all market items and the Festival website. He stated that <br />Finance Director DeJong was attending a meeting with Met Council the following day. He <br />reported that he attended a recent meeting with the Anoka County Regional Economic <br />Development regarding the technology corridor and she has stated that there have been inquiries <br />and the area is getting their name out there as a data center for high data users. He also stated that <br />he recently attending a meeting with Anoka County EDA were an event was being planned for <br />commercial real estate were promoting Anoka County would be an emphasis. He stated that the <br />event is planned for October and that he would be forwarding information as it was completed. <br /> <br />Council Member Love stated that he had an opportunity to speak at the National League <br />Conference held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida recently where he reference that the City of <br />Centerville was older than the state itself. He also stated that he spoke with panel members and <br />new trustees. He stated that he was greatful for the opportunity to represent the City of Centerville, <br />MN. <br /> <br />Mayor Paar thanked Council Member Love for representing the City and stated that there was not <br />a better person that could do that in this capacity. <br /> <br />Council Member Koski desired to welcome Ms. Kathy Freiermuth as a new Parks & Recreation <br />Committee Member and Mr. Jon Krueger as a Planning & Zoning Commission Member. He <br />thanked Mayor Paar for attending the P & Z meeting in his absence and stated that the Commission <br />recommended to Council the Conditional Use Permit for Midwest Best Water.
