City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />September 25, 2019 <br /> <br /> <br />He also stated that that the Truth in Taxation budget hearing would be scheduled for December <br />11, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. He stated that residents would have an opportunity to speak at that meeting. <br /> <br />Finance Director DeJong stated that the amount can be reduced but not increased and he hoped <br />that Council would be able to decrease it more before December. <br /> <br />City Administrator Statz felt that even though increases have been experienced for public safety <br />the Council has been committed in keeping the levy low for residents. He stated that previous <br />Councils’ diligence in saving has allowed the City to paid cash for major projects such as the water <br />tower and downtown road project while experiencing very modest increases in the levy for the <br />foreseeable future. <br /> <br />Council Member Love questioned how much a percentage was. Finance Director DeJong stated <br />that for every percentage it equates to $27,000. <br /> <br />Mayor Paar stated that the Council’s goal it to be fiscally responsible and keep the levy level. He <br />stated that Staff last year restructured debt so that bond levies are level and pay off infrastructure. <br />He also stated that the City is fiscally sound and reserve are well within the State guidelines and <br />Auditors recommendations. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Love, seconded by Council Member Montain to Adopt Res. #19- <br />029 – Adopt Preliminary Budget as presented. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />X. COUNCIL/ADMINISTRATOR ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />1. Administrator’s Report <br /> <br />Administrator Statz stated that his reported was contained in the packet and that he would <br />be happy to address any questions or concerns. He reported that the Quad Area Chamber <br />of Commerce would be hosting a Candidate Forum for the Anoka County District 6 <br />Commissioner seat on October 3, 2019 and that interested individuals could register through <br />the Chambers website. <br /> <br />Administrator Statz stated that he has requested that Finance Director DeJong attend a Metro <br />I-Net consortium meeting where two (2) individuals would be retiring. Mayor Paar stated <br />that he felt that moving to Metro I-Net was a good move for the City versus running our <br />own server and paying for repairs and regular upkeep on same. <br /> <br />2. Council Reports <br />a. Lakso – No report(s) given due to absence. <br /> <br />i. Parks and Recreation Committee <br />ii. Economic Development Authority <br />iii.
