City of Centerville <br />Planning and Zoning Commission <br />December 1, 2015 <br />The Commission had a brief discussion on the presented policy, Administrator Ericson stated that <br />the proposed policy is similar to surrounding communities’ policies and that staff is eager to <br />institute it. <br /> <br />Motion by Commission Member Koski, seconded by Commission Member Montain to <br />Recommend to Council the policy for the Municipal Lighted Board @ City Hall as <br />presented. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />3. Ruffridge Johnson, 2065 Commerce Drive – Notification from Owner <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that the City recently received notification from the owner of <br />Ruffridge Johnson that the sale of their existing building in Minneapolis fell through and it was a <br />condition of the purchase of the property at 2065 Commerce Drive. The City has not received an <br />official letter yet. Administrator Ericson stated that the owner was less than happy and he was <br />disappointed because he was looking forward to his move to Centerville. <br /> <br />V. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. Proposed Parking Design – Centennial School District #12 (Centerville Elementary) <br /> a. 1709 Main Street – Condemnation Proceedings <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that the Centennial School District #12 has commenced <br />condemnation proceedings with regard to the property located at 1709 Main Street, owned by Mr. <br />Paul Steffel. City staff met with ISD #12 officials on the purchase of City owned property located <br />at 1737 Main Street. The Planning & Zoning Commission reviewed the new parking lot design <br />as per the plan presented by the District. Administrator Ericson stated that discussion by the City <br />Council wast they would rather have the City owned property remain tax generating and that the <br />School District could be more open to utilizing their existing property for parking lot expansion <br />rather than utilizing prime real estate. Administrator Ericson and staff have been instructed to <br />meet with School District staff, arrange meetings with Council and provide alternatives and <br />possible duel use of parking with the Downtown Master Plan and Design Guidelines. The <br />Planning & Zoning Commission had a lengthy discussion on the use of school property on the <br />north side and that the City should work with school officials. <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that he would keep the Commission abreast of the details regarding <br />this item. <br /> <br />2. Commissioner Tom Wood’s Resignation <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson reported that he had received a letter of resignation from Commissioner <br />Woods via email.
