City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />August 12, 2020 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Council Reports <br />a. Lakso – <br /> <br />i. Parks and Recreation Committee – Council Member Lakso stated <br />that Council Member Wilharber will report on this item as she was <br />unable to attend. <br />ii. Centennial Fire District Steering Committee – Council Member <br />Lakso stated that she had just completed a meeting with the Consulting <br />Firm who desired to meet with Council Members, Administrators and <br />Staff for input. She also stated that she felt it may be some time before <br />their report was released. <br />iii. Anoka County Fire Protection Council – No report was given. <br /> <br />b. Wilharber - <br /> <br />i. Police Governing Board – Council Member Wilharber stated that the <br />proposed budget for 2021 would include a decrease to the City’s portion <br />by $11,600 due to the formulation used (calls, population, etc.). He <br />stated that the number of calls for the City have decreased comparative <br />to the population. He reported that the Police building would be paid <br />off this year which also would be a savings to Centerville. He stated <br />that it looked like a very good budget. He stated that the new Chief has <br />been onboard for approximately two (2) weeks and he also believed that <br />the budget was in line. He reported that the Chief had been interviewing <br />several new candidates for being officers. <br />ii. Economic Development Authority – Council Member Wilharber <br />stated that the Committee would be meeting the following week. <br />iii. Parks and Recreation Committee – Council Member Wilharber stated <br />that he was the alternate at the meeting due to Council Member Lakso <br />absence. He stated that discussions were held regarding the Old Mill <br />nd <br />Estates 2 Addition (the roadway, removal of trees, and Acorn Creek <br />Park’s parking lot). <br /> <br />c. Koski – <br /> <br />i. Planning & Zoning Commission – Council Member Koski stated that <br />Administrator Statz reported on the apartment building concept and <br />rezoning from Commercial to High Density. Council Member Koski <br />stated that a business located on Gateway Circle is considering an <br />expansion. He stated that Mr. Michael Giovinazzo, EDA, provided the <br />Commission with a presentation and overview of goals and recent <br />programs the Authority has been working on, such as the CenterStage <br />program which has been very successful for local businesses during <br />COVID-19. <br />Page 6 of 7 <br /> <br /> <br />
