City of Centerville's <br />Parks and Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes <br />February 3, 2021 <br />no later than the first week in March due to the art classes not meeting very often. There will be entries <br />from both the elementary and middle schools <br />Motion by Committee Member Wae2he, seconded by Committee Member Freiermuth to <br />recommend to the City Council the approval of $350, $300 for prizes (2-$100 first place, 2-$50 <br />second place & 2-$25 third place), plus $50 for miscellaneous expenses for the 2021 Logo Art <br />Contest. All in favor. Motion carried. <br />If for some reason Fete des Lacs is again cancelled due to the COVID Pandemic, the prizes will still be <br />awarded and the winners and their logos will be publicized. <br />There was no appointment of a second liaison for the Fete des Lacs Committee. <br />2. Main Street Market <br />Mr. Statz Update: Staff has reached out to various vendors including farm market vendors. Will place <br />on the March's agenda regarding vendors, picnic benches & advertising <br />3. Skate Night — February 6, 2021 <br />Due to the Governor's COVID restrictions still in place, and after discussion regarding safety issues, it <br />was determined that this event should be cancelled by city staff, based on the motion approved at the <br />January 6 meeting to allow city staff to cancel the February Skate Night. Mr. Statz will contact the media <br />and Wargo with the decision that this event will be cancelled. <br />VI. NEW BUSINESS <br />1. Centennial Community Education <br />A request was received from Ms. Cori Sendle, Centennial Community Education Director, requesting the <br />use of Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park for a few Community Education programs. The first would be for <br />youth ages 4-7 for a multi -sport experience in the afternoons from 1:00 — 4:00 p.m.; dates would be July <br />12-15. The second would be an evening soccer program for ages 2-4 on Wednesday evenings from 4:00- <br />6:30 p.m.; dates would be July 21-August 11. Centennial Community Education would provide <br />instructors, insurance and they would provide promotion, registration and parent contact. They are <br />looking to use a large green space with restroom availability. Discussion ensued if July 15 might be a <br />conflict with some of the Fete des Lacs activities or preparation work. Mr. Statz will ask Ms. Sendle to <br />move the dates from July 12-15 to July 19-22, if she is unable to use the facilities on July 15. <br />Motion made by Committee Member Wae2he, seconded by Committee Member Peterson to <br />recommend to the City Council to approve the request of the Centennial Community Education <br />for the use of the Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park for the use of their programs from July 12 <br />through 14 and July 21 through August 11. All in favor. Motion carried. <br />2. McBride Park Play Equipment <br />Mr. Paul Palzer, Public Works Director, provided a report on the status of the playground structures at <br />Page 2 of 6 <br />
