comments and those of other jurisdictions can be viewed at: Review comments (begins
on page 33)
SEWER AND WATER
Wellhead Protection Plan
As part of work on Part 2 of the Wellhead Protection Plan we have sent out surveys to
potential well owners. A half dozen or more of those who have responded requested info
on sealing their wells. Due to this response, we are pursuing a grant, through the
Minnesota Department of Health for up to $10,000 to cover those costs and help get them
sealed. This is a great way to help protect our aquifer.

Downtown Water Main and Street Reconstruction
Staff and consultants continue to work on the plans and specifications for the Downtown
Street and Utility Improvements. The plans will be presented to the City Council in
November for bidding in December and early January.

Cedar Street Water Main Interconnect
The city has submitted an insurance claim for damage to an electrical panel and SCADA
controls related to a lighting strike.

Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Park Reserve Maintenance Facility Sewer Hook-up
County parks staff has contacted the city requesting an extension of their sewer service to
some new office space at their maintenance facility in the regional park.

Water Tower Inspection
Our water tower and its coatings (paint) received a clean bill of health from KLM, our
consultants who were hired to inspect the structure, inside and out. Aside from a few
minor issues, the overall report is that our 15-yestem is still holding
up well. Some sediment (mostly sand) was removed from the interior of the tower, but it
did not appear to be excessive, or any cause for concern. The report recommends a
check-up again in 5 years.

The other good news from the water tower inspection is that our back-up systems, which
include our wells and interconnect, worked
notice the water tower was empty. Pressure around the city was down a few pounds from
normal while the inspection took place, but other than that, we were able to provide
continuous water service during the shut-down.

PARKS AND RECREATION
Committee Vacancy
The parks committee has one open seat.
