Not Approved <br /> City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />February 24, 2021 <br /> <br />structure/model is not working as anticipated. He stated that he is requesting that Council direct <br />staff to engage with other partners for collaboration possibilities. He discussed numerous <br />scenarios of individuals on call waiting for calls, covering areas for other communities, etc. He <br />stated that discussions do not include owning existing equipment or stations or breaking up of the <br />department but rather exploring options for potential savings and public safety. <br /> <br />Lengthy discussion ensued by members of Council who stated that the report was interesting, <br />firefighter responses, financial implications, reorganization, morale, own leadership, standards of <br />operation, ordinance, looking into training, inspections, what can be implemented immediately, <br />dissolving an agreement if needed, ensuring firefighter benefits, shift in leadership, initial <br />training quality versus ongoing training, etc. <br /> <br />2. EDA Strategic Plan Update <br /> <br />Administrator Statz stated that this is an informal discussion regarding EDA, Council’s <br />expectations, their role, value, marketing arm of the city/promotion (rebranding, beautification, <br />business support, Loan/Grant Program and Blue Sign Program. <br /> <br />Lengthy discussion ensued regarding the appointment of two (2) Council Members on the EDA <br />and comfort that is provided by that, City entrance monument, collaboration with the Parks & <br />Recreation Committee, attracting businesses, aesthetics of buildings, identify and prioritize items <br />for them to work on, stronger voice of businesses, working relationships, what businesses want <br />from the EDA, assisting current businesses, entrance monument(s), new website and EDA <br />presence on it, etc. <br /> <br />Administrator Statz stated that he would forward a bullet list of activities of the EDA. <br /> <br />III.
