He asked what attracted him to the City.

Mr. Jiles stated that he grew up in the area, moved to Hugo when he was 14, graduated from White
Bear Lake High School, and bought his first house in Centerville. He stated that he was driving
down County Road 14 making a delivery in Lino Lakes, saw the sign that the space was for lease
and felt it would be perfect because Centerville still has the small town feel and his desire is not to
have a big enterprise, but a nice small-town café. He noted that he has a menu item coming with
wild rice that is harvested in Centerville in tribute of the Dakota Indians and French Canadians
came in to harvest the wild rice.

Council Member Koski stated that this idea sounds terrific and would echo Council Member
Lakso’s comment that he loves Mr. Jiles’ energy. He asked about his background and experience.

Mr. Jiles noted that he has not owned his own business before but has opened a lot of restaurants
and listed some of the restaurants that he has been involved in.

Council Member Koski stated that he also loves this idea and thinks the location would be perfect
for this purpose. He stated that he loves the idea of having a balcony that takes advantage of the
lake, yet still keeps the small town feel with this destination business.

Mr. Jiles stated that he would like Centerville and his café to be considered the hidden jewel.

Council Member King welcomed Mr. Jiles and noted that he lives very near him and encouraged
him to keep on going.

Mayor Love welcomed Mr. Jiles to the City and stated that the entire Council wishes him the best
of luck in prospering his business.
