City of Centerville <br />Council Work Session & City Council Meeting Minutes <br />December 8, 2021 <br /> <br />Lakso asked if the offer would be contingent on a background check or other requirements. <br />Administrator Statz stated that the City would complete a background check as it has been the <br />City’s practice. Council Member King asked if she had been doing this same job. Administrator <br />Statz stated that she has held similar roles with one (1) being a small town City Administrator <br />(transitionary period) but due to some life events changed direction for a bit. She also served as <br />an Assistant City Administrator, but with reorganization she was unhappy with the role, felt that <br />it no longer suited her career path and that is why she was looking for a new position. She was <br />proactive at looking at our City and did a large amount of research and desired to be involved in <br />many thing and be an expert in many things. Administrator Statz stated that she had some thoughts <br />and was not ashamed to share them. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member King, seconded by Council Member Koski to Extend an Offer <br />of Employment to Ms. Athanasia Lewis for the Position of Assistant City Administrator at <br />Pay Grade 8, Step 6 ($71,843/year on the 2022 Pay Scale) and with a Three Year Experience <br />Equivalency in Personal Time Off (PTO) Contingent Upon a Successful Background Check. <br />All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />3. Appoint Junior Council Member <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Love, seconded by Council Member Mosher to Appoint Mr. Danny <br />Peterson as Junior Council Member for the City of Centerville. <br /> <br />Council Member Lakso had concerns regarding labor laws and evening meetings. Administrator <br />Statz stated that this was not a paid position so he did not believe that there were any issues. <br />Attorney Glaser concurred. Council Member Lakso stated that she was excited and felt that Mr. <br />Peterson was well spoken. Council Member Koski welcomed Mr. Peterson and thanked him for <br />his good attitude and felt that Mr. Peterson would learn a lot. Mayor Love also thanked Mr. <br />Peterson for his interest in the position and stated that he looked forward to his input on items. <br />Council Member King also welcomed Mr. Peterson. Mayor Love stated that he was proud of the <br />program and hoped that it would be successful. He also stated that hoped that Mr. Peterson would <br />get a lot out of the program and stated that he could be contacted at any time. <br /> <br />All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Mayor and Jr. Council Member Mr. Peterson paused for a photo opportunity. <br /> <br />4. MDH Well Sealing Grant <br /> <br />Administrator Statz stated that the first received notice that there was not enough money for a grant <br />and recently the City was provided with documents that were for successful programs. Upon <br />discussions with the Minnesota Department of Health, they have determine that funding of $10,000 <br />was available to the City. He stated that this would allow the City to seal some well within the <br />City’s Well Head Protection area. He also stated that he was looking at having Council approve <br />the grant agreement. <br /> <br />Page 9 of 15 <br /> <br /> <br />
