City of Centerville <br />City Council Work Session Meeting Minutes <br />June 28, 2023 <br /> <br />4. LMC City of Excellence Award for Junior Council Member Program <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Lewis stated that at a recent League of MN Cities, Centerville was <br />recognized for the Junior Council Member program. Mayor Love thanked staff for submitting the <br />application for consideration and he thanked previous Jr. Council Member Danny Peterson and his <br />parents along with Jr. Council Member Rowan Shaw and his mother for attending the award ceremony. <br />It was reported that many cities desired to emulate the City’s program. Council Member Mosher thanked <br />those that represented the City at the conference and Council Member King stated that he originally had <br />reservations with regards to the program, but it has proven to be an excellent addition and provides a <br />learning experience that can not be learned in school. Several Council Members concurred with the <br />appreciation for staff submittal. Several Council Members thanked Mayor Love for his inception of the <br />program. <br /> <br />X. COUNCIL/ADMINISTRATOR ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />1. Administrator/Engineer Report – Due to Administrator Statz’s absence, Assistant City <br />Administrator Lewis reviewed the Administrator’s Report that was in the packet with Council. <br /> <br />Attorney Glaser congratulated the City for receiving the Award for the Junior Council Member Program. <br /> <br />2. Council Reports <br /> <br />a. Taylor – <br /> Parks & Recreation – Council Member Taylor gave no report. <br /> <br />b. Koski – <br /> Planning & Zoning Commission – Council Member Koski gave no report as he was <br />absent. <br /> Fire Steering Committee – Council Member Koski stated that the meeting is scheduled <br />for July 20, 2023. <br /> <br />c. King - <br /> Economic Development Authority – Council Member King stated that there has <br />developer interest with the LaLonde property possibly becoming available for <br />development. He spoke about funding being placed in a Money Market Account with <br />Midwest One. He also stated that the board has been prioritizing the recommendations <br />associated from the outcome of the downtown study. <br /> Fire Steering Committee – Council Member King gave no report. <br /> Fire Protection Council – Council Member King gave no report. <br /> <br />d. Mosher – <br /> Economic Development Authority – Council Member Mosher stated that a starting point <br />would be put together focusing/prioritizing the Findings and Direction from the downtown <br />study. <br /> Police Governing Board – Council Member Mosher gave no report. <br /> <br />Page 5 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
