8. PERSONAL TIME OFF (PTO) - LEAVE WITH PAY <br />8.1 General <br />Eligibility: Full-time Employees who have worked for the City for at least six months are <br />eligible to accrue annual Personal Time Off leave (PTO) from the date the Employee is hired. <br />PTO will be available for use as it is accrued according to the schedule below. <br />8.2 Accrual <br />Rate of Accrual: Full-time Employees shall earn PTO leave at the following rates. <br />Years of Service PTO Leave <br />0 through 6 months ............................ 6.77 hrs. per pay period <br />After six months through 3 years ............ 6.77 hrs. per pay period <br />After 3 years through 9 years ............. 8.31 hrs. per pay period <br />After 9 years through 15 years .......... 9.85 hrs. per pay period <br />After 15 years through 20 years .......... 11.38 hrs. per pay period <br />After 20 years until Retirement ............ 12.92 hrs. per pay period <br />8.3 Requirements <br />Usage: Personal Time Off (PTO) Leave may be used as earned, subject to approval by the <br />Department Supervisor or City Administrator. PTO may be taken in increments of one hour <br />or more. Up to a maximum of 216 hours of accrued PTO may be carried over to the next <br />year. <br />Procedure: To be eligible for PTO leave with pay, an Employee shall report as soon as <br />possible to his or her Department Head the need to take personal leave and its estimated <br />duration. Requests to use PTO shall be received at least twenty-four hours in advance of the <br />requested time off. This notice may be waived at the discretion of the City Administrator. <br />Pay -Out of PTO Leave: The rate of PTO pay will be the Employee's regular rate of pay in <br />effect at the time of PTO request. In the event of termination in good standing, all earned <br />PTO will be paid at the Employee's regular rate of pay. <br />Use of PTO Leave during a Holiday: Holidays occurring during an Employee's PTO leave <br />will be considered a holiday and the Employee will not be charged for PTO on that day. <br />Coordination of PTO Leave Frith Family and Medical Leave: In order to allow coordination <br />of Personal Time Off leave with Family and Medical Leave, Employees seeking to take PTO may <br />be required to provide enough information about the purpose of the leave to allow a <br />determination of whether the leave will also qualify for Family and Medical leave. <br />Waiver of PTO Leave Prohibited: No Employee is permitted to waive personal leave for <br />the purpose of receiving double compensation. <br />
