Entrance Signs <br />Working with County Highway staff, the city’s entrance signs have been <br />given an aesthetic lift, straightening and raising some of the signs to avoid <br />snow plow impacts. <br />Centerville Lake Water Quality Project <br />The Rice Creek Watershed District was awarded a $954,500 Clean Water Fund <br />grant for an alum treatment on Centerville Lake. Matt Kocian, Lake and Stream <br />Program Manager, said: “We’re very excited for this project, and confident that it <br />will improve water quality conditions.” If possible, the goal would be to complete <br />the first “dose” of treatment as early as April of 2024, with a second dose <br />programmed for the spring of 2026. The watershed plans to hold some public <br />informational meetings in the coming months as part of a larger public <br />engagement strategy, including social media posts and appearing at city meetings, <br />among other things.Mr. Kocian presented information at the January 24 City <br />Council meetingand answered questions on project logistics. Thewatershed is seeking partnerparticipation on the <br />cost of the project from the two cities and the county parks department. Centerville’s share is estimated at $35,000. <br />TheCity Council will consider their support of this cost at an upcoming meeting. <br />ENGINEERING <br />th <br />20Avenue (CSAH 54) Corridor Study <br />The technical advisory panel for the corridor study met on January 23 to review initial design options for <br />several intersections within the corridor. Other design elements, such as turn lanes, medians, trails and other <br />pedestrian accommodations were also discussed. Public input meetings will be held soon to gain input on <br />the ultimate design. Stay tuned for updates on how to weigh in. <br />Northeast Metro Water Supply Planning Workshop <br />City EngineerStatz attended the most recent Northeast Metro Water SupplyPlanning Workshop, organized <br />by the Metropolitan Council (Met Council). These workshops are to help formulate the next MetroArea <br />Water Supply Plan. Stakeholders from the region, including City Engineers, Public Works Directors, <br />watershed district staff and managers, representatives from the DNR and MN Dept. of Health all gathered <br /> <br />
