City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting Minutes <br />April 10, 2024 <br />from time-to-time local governments collaborate on efforts to show their approval or disapproval of laws <br />that are being considered. He stated that the letter was forwarded after the packet was completed and the <br />time is of the essence. He stated that he, the Mayor Love, Jr. Council Member Sauber, and Council <br />Member Taylor had all spoke with Senator Heather Gustafson and Representative Elliot Engen about this <br />issue on Day at the Capitol and passed and forwarded a resolution laying out the City’s position on the <br />issue to them also. He stated that he has also been active emailing the same representatives on continuing <br />issues associated with it. He stated that it is a very important issue. <br /> <br />Jr. Council Member Sauber stated that she felt this was a very important issue. Council Member Sweeney <br />asked whether our previous mailing went to the Governor, and it was stated no, but this was to the <br />Governor and legislators. Council Member Mosher stated that the news has stated that this bill would <br />create more law and affordable housing, but local government has local control allowing for public input <br />that they want to take away. Council Member Koski we would not be speaking of this property or <br />development if this was to go through and it’s great that the audience was participating this evening. <br />Mayor Love stated that this outlines why we attend conferences as this was where he had heard about it. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Sweeney, seconded by Council Member Mosher to sign and forward <br />the presented letter. Roll Call: Mayor Love, Council Members Sweeney, Mosher, Koski and <br />Taylor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />X. COUNCIL/ADMINISTRATOR ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />1. Administrator/Engineer Report – Administrator Statz stated that his report was contained in the <br />packet and that he would be happy to address any questions from the Council. He provided <br />Council with a brief review. <br /> <br />Administrator Statz stated that on Monday, the City received a formal application for Preliminary <br />Plat (120 days) and Planned Unit Development (60 days) and scheduled for St. Genevieve’s <br />Community Parish Center on May 7, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. and the public’s opportunity for input. He <br />also stated that everything received via email will also become a part of the public records and at <br />the public hearing. He stated that most likely the Commission will make a recommendation to <br />approve or deny to Council. He stated that the application will not be at the May 8, 2024, meeting <br />thst <br />but the 4 Wednesday of the month or 1 meeting in June. The City Council meeting is not a <br />public hearing, but the Planning Commission is where voices should be heard. Council typically <br />does not take comment. He stated that there would be a separate Public Hearing process for Tax <br />Increment Financing and all information will be forwarded. Mayor Love stated that if anyone <br />desired to be included in the email blast to provide your emails to the City and you will receive <br />this report that is being reviewed. <br /> <br />2. Council Reports <br /> <br />th <br />Jr. Council Member Sauber stated that they are in the 4 quarter, the Juniors took their ACTs and <br />sophomores finished state testing. She stated that that track team had their first meet, the softball and <br />baseball teams beat Blaine and Lacrosse would be having the girls home opener on Friday and the boys <br />have their first game the following week. She stated that she would be absent from the next few meetings <br />due to scheduling conflicts. She stated that she recently attended a Planning & Zoning meeting. <br /> <br />a.
