City of Centerville
Planning and Zoning Commission
May 7, 2024

Mr. Lamier said that rental properties bring fewer desirable elements, referencing Landings of
Lexington; Mr. Lamier said there is a high number of police calls, and the apartments are already
an issue for Lexington.

Mr. Lamier said that residents of Lino Lakes, Hugo, are all asking for a slowdown in development.
Mr. Lamier added that developments around us will impact on traffic.

Mr. Lamier stated that Centerville is a gateway, not a destination.

Mr. Lamier stated that we donÓt need rental housing.

Mr. Lamier stated that our long-term plan needs to change, adding that apartments stick out like a
sore thumb and will disrupt the small-town feel.

Mr. Lamier asked why we think adding rental properties will bring development when we have no
real attractions: 2 strip malls, 2 pizza places, 2 liquor stores.

Mr. Lamier stated that we need better redevelopment not new development. He added that we need
to reinvest in our city and come up with a better plan, so people want to stay in and be a part of our
city.

Mr. Lamier asked how schools are going to handle all new developments, noting that any child
harmed by lack of planning is one too many. Mr. Lamier asked how we look at fire and emergency
care as well as wear and tear on the roads.

Mr. Lamier added that any money we get from the increasing population will be spent on
infrastructure.

Mr. Lamier said that he does not think this has been thought through deep enough to address traffic
safety and future expenses, not to mention the concerns of the citizens if this passes.

Mr. Lamier asked the Commission to please deny the proposal.

23. Cheryl Sacco, 7267 Clearwater Drive (3:07:07 to 3:08:21)
Ms. Sacco said that she never approved of anything to put this complex over there and that if she
owned this beautiful property, she would want to sell it to somebody that had enough money to build
a beautiful house.

Ms. Sacco said that there are some beautiful houses along Mound trail. She said she is totally against
the proposal. Ms. Sacco said the LaLonde property is one of the most beautiful buildings when you
come into Centerville. She added that this is a conservation area, and she would like to keep it this
way.

24. Julie Driver, 1650 Lakeland Circle (3:08:30 to 3:10:53)
Ms. Driver stated that the Planning & Zoning Commission has heard many voices regarding the
development of the LaLonde proposal and that they are empowered to decide. Ms. Driver said that
her property borders the LaLonde property. Ms. Driver said that as a resident of Centerville, she is
asking the Commission to please vote no.
