City of Centerville <br />Park & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes <br />August 6, 2025 <br />3.Fete des Lacs 5/8K Run & Paddle Events (Update) <br />Ms. Nissa Larsonwas unable to attend the meeting this evening. There are 65-8K runners, 9-5K <br />runners, and 30 Fun Run participants. The revenue was $1,590. The committee reviewed the <br />expenses.Ms. Larson stated that the expenses should run between $500 - $1,000. An updated <br />estimate of expenses will be provided at the next meeting. <br />Committee Member Peterson provided an update onthe paddle event. There was discussion <br />regarding the promotion of both events at the Main Street Market duringthe week of Fete des Lacs <br />in attempts to gain a little more participation.The time of the race needs to be communicated early. <br />4.Volunteer Appreciation Scheduling & Gifts <br />Chairperson Errickson-Grahek stated that the committee was asked to schedule this annual event. <br />The gifts are under $5. The event is usually heldin September or October. This has been done at <br />St. Gen’s in the past. The Mayor could be invited to speak. Food and beverages will be provided. <br />The City Clerk will speak with St. Gen’s regarding dates available. A Monday or Tuesday would <br />be best. October 13 or October 14, 2025 were proposed. October 14, St. Gens is not available. <br />October 15, 20, or 22 are possible dates, and the City Clerk will check with St. Gen’s. <br />5.Park Facility Permit Application – Scout Troop 136 Overnight Use of LaMotte Park <br />The event is scheduled for August 21, 2025, from6:30 p.m. to August 22, 2025, 8:00 a.m. for a <br />Scout summer campout. Lights out will be at 10:00 p.m. An above-ground portable fire pit would <br />be used. The sprinklers will be turned off for the evening if requested. Concern was expressed that <br />tents may set a precedent where others may think they can set up tents in the park. The Scouts have <br />volunteered in the community. A sign was requested to be put upnotifying people that this is an <br />approved activity for the scouts. The actual location for the tents is TBD. There will be <br />approximately 20 attendees. Some concern was expressed about having a fire. The fire department <br />and police department will be notified of the event. <br />Motion by Committee Member Akpan, seconded by Committee Member Freiermuthto <br />recommend toCity Counciltheapproval ofthe park facility permit application –Scout <br />Troop 136 Overnight Use of LaMotte Parkwithout afire and signage showingthe <br />authorization tocampout with support of the Parks &Recreation Committee.All in favor <br />(Peterson abstained). Motion carried. <br />VII.APPROVAL OF MINUTES – NONE <br /> <br />VIII.ANNOUNCEMENTS/UPDATES <br />1.Staff Updates – (Main Street Market) <br />The delivery of LaurieLaMotte Memorial Park's new play structure equipment should arrive <br />shortly.
