City of Centerville <br />Parks & Recreation Meeting <br />September 3, 2025 <br />b.Hors d’oeuvres <br />Discussion took place regarding the possibility of holding the event on October 22, 2025, and staff <br />was instructed to contact St. Genevieve’s to ascertain if this was a possibility. <br />Committee Member Akpan had provided ideas for appreciation items; insulated coolers and <br />cooling wraps. It was the consensus of the Committee to purchase insulated coolers. A <br />recommendation to utilize Kelly’s Korner for supplying the Hors d’oeuvres as WiseGuys Pub <br />completed the previous years. Chairperson Errickson-Grahek stated that she would place that <br />order. <br />Motion by Committee Member Peterson, seconded by Chairperson Errickson-Grahek to <br />recommend to City Council the purchase of appreciation items, (insulated coolers),not to <br />exceed $1,300. All in favor. Motion carried. <br />Motion by Chairperson Errickson-Grahek, seconded by Committee Member Akpan to <br />recommend to City Council the purchase of hors d’oeuvres from Kelly’s Korner in an <br />amount not to exceed $500 for the 2025 Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. All in favor. Motion <br />carried. <br />3.Movie in the Park –The Wild Robot <br />Committee Member Peterson stated that he had reserved the projector through EMI. City Clerk <br />Bender stated that the license fee and the purchase of the physical movie had been completed. <br />Discussion took place regarding securing the equipment and Committee Member Akpan <br />volunteered to retrieve the equipment from the vendor on September 12, 2025. City Clerk Bender <br />would email the address to Committee Member Akpan. <br />Brief discussion ensued regarding items that would be needed for the event (e.g. Popcorn, cups, <br />hot cocoa, popcorn boats, etc.) <br />VI.NEW BUSINESS <br />1.Remote Control Car Course <br />Lengthy discussion was hadregarding obtaining additional information, a proper location for a <br />course as it was felt that Acorn Creek was not appropriate, the cost of the cars to get started and <br />the inability for some to utilize a tracks benefit, costs of the track and its maintenance, liability <br />concerns for volunteers to install and maintain, recent surveys did not address a desire to have a <br />remote control car course, the close proximity of theHugo course, that the offering does not align <br />with the Parks and Recreation Mission Statement, etc. <br />Motion by Chairperson Errickson-Grahek, seconded by Committee Member Fuchs to table <br />the items for additional research for alternative locations and investigation into use of the <br />Hugo course.
