City of Centerville <br />Parks & Recreation Meeting <br />September 3, 2025 <br />Committee Member Port felt that the use of space should not take away playground space in any <br />park. <br />2.I9 Sports <br />Chairperson Errickson-Grahek stated that the city had receive a request from I9 Sports for use of <br />parks and providing park programs. Lengthy discussion ensued regarding competition with local <br />sporting organized groups (Centennial Little League, CentennialHockey, Community Education, <br />etc.). Discussion included the proposed program and assistance with maintenance, etc. Direction <br />was given to staff to complete additional research regarding the group. <br />Motion by Chair Errickson-Grahek, and seconded by Committee Member Fuchs, to connect <br />with I9 Sports to determine anticipated usage, deposit and return for usage. All in favor. <br />Motion carried. <br />VII.APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />1.None. <br />VIII.UPDATES/ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />1.Staff Updates –Main Street Market & Drinking Fountain Installation <br />City Clerk Bender stated that the Market went very well with Kids’night events (e.g. freezes, rock <br />painting, face painting and the bounce house werea great hit. It was stated that the Bounce House <br />was soaking wet with wet towel remaining in it and that staff would investigate another vendor or <br />something different. Ms. Bender stated that the drinking fountain was installed at Laurie LaMotte <br />MemorialPark <br />2.Committee Member Updates –Committee Member(Fiore Tree Grant, Disc Golf, <br />LaMotte Play Structure –Usable Equipment Installation, Music in the Park Wrap- <br />up & Pickleball Striping) <br />Chairperson Errickson-Grahek stated that the citywas unsuccessful with obtaining the grant for <br />the Fiore Tree. Chairperson Errickson-Grahek asked if the committee wanted to go back to <br />Council and request the previously approved $25,000 for the Fiore Tree installation without and <br />bells and whistles (irrigation and electricity). Committee Member Port wanted additional <br />discussion for an alternative art piece or sculpture and stated that she did not agree with the tree. <br />Discussion ensued regarding a focal point of the city, and additional piece in the future, applying <br />for another grant, placemaking, cost/benefit, etc. <br />Motion by Committee Member Peterson, seconded by Chairperson Errickson-Grahek to <br />recommend City Council to expend the original $25,000 to purchase the basic 12’ Fiore Tree. <br />Committee Member Port – Nay.
