e

Mayor Swedberg asked the committee to evaluate what items were essential for
the festival and those, which could be dropped. He stated this would be helpful
for future funding concerns.

Ray De Vine noted the softball tournament went really smootWy this year and
brought a lot of people to the festival. He indicated the parade was a huge
success, but was expensive this year.

Councilmember Capra indicated the parade was wonderful this year and
encouraged the committee to continue with it She questioned if there was an
expense for the carnival. Mr. DeVine indicated the carnival was of no expense to
the committee, and explained the festival committee received a portion of
revenues after a certain portion of revenues was gained.

Councilmember Nelson asked that staff provide the Council with donation
information and final expenditures for review at the next meeting.

Mr. DeVine asked when the Council would have a grasp on the 2002 budget for
the committee to know what funding would be available. Mayor Swedberg noted
the Council will be holding several more study session meetings to discuss the
budget and should have an answer within the next month.

Mr. DeVine thanked all the committee members, public works, City staff and
volunteers for their work on this year's festival.

V.
