.

VI.

VII.

Mayor Swedberg thanked Mr. Hoeft for his recommendations and efforts on these
City issues.

PETITIONS AND COMPLAINTS - None.

OLD BUSINESS

Search Process and Plan for the Vacant City Administrator Position (Update)

Councilmember Nelson indicated he spoke with Tom Sathe and indicated he was
looking for a dollar amount available for travel expenses for applicants out of the
metro. She noted Mr. Sathe had roughly seven or eight applicants at this time and
would be completing interviews this next week.

Councilmember Nelson explained Mr. Sathe was looking for a dollar range for
assistance in moving a new candidate, as well, and also covering expenses for
final interviews.

Councilmember Nelson stated she spoke with a moving company and found
$4,000 should cover the expense of moving a candidate with roughly $1,000 for
hotel and eating expenses during final interviews. She noted she would be in
agreement with setting an expense amount to keep an applicant interested in the
City.

Councilmember Travis stated he felt this was a great deal of money to keep
someone interested in the City of Centerville.

Councilmember Capra indicated she felt this could be a negotiating tool for the
City to use for potential candidates. She explained if this was not to exceed
$6,000 she may be in favor of the expense account.

Councilmember Broussard Vickers stated she may be interested in the City
covering this expense but would like to leave the amount open ended at this time.
She indicated applicants applying from out ofthe area, would expect to move
when applying for this job.

Councilmember Capra stated she would be in favor of covering the expenses of
the second interview. Councilmember Broussard Vickers agreed this amount
should stay open ended, as the Council does not want to commit themselves to
applicants just yet.

Councilmember Nelson noted she would report this information back to Mr.
Sathe.

Rain Water Gardens

Mayor Swedberg reviewed an article about the rainwater gardens from the Star
Tribune for the Council to review.

5 of 10
