<br />The Brimeyer Group, Inc. <br /> <br />Page 3 of6 <br /> <br />initiated in 2001 and extensive renovation to the existing building will <br />take place the following year. <br /> <br />The Lake City Police Department employs eight full-time police officers. <br />Fire protection is provided by a 22-member volunteer department. The <br />volunteer ambulance service has a full-time director and 26 volunteers <br />serving as paramedics and emergency medical technicians. <br /> <br />Under the supervision of the Public Works Director, the Utility <br />Department provides electric, water, and sewer service. The electric <br />utility is a distributor of electricity purchased through the Southern <br />Minnesota Municipal Power Association (SMMPA). The water system <br />consists of four wells and two tanks with a capacity of $1.5 million <br />gallons. An activated sludge wastewater treatment plant handles <br />collection and treatment. Refuse hauling, recycling, and composting are <br />provided by the city. Xcel Energy provides natural gas. <br /> <br />The Organization <br /> <br />The City of Lake City is a home rule charter city adopted in 1974 and <br />operates under a Mayor/Council form of government with a full-time <br />City Administrator. The city is divided into four voting precincts. The <br />Mayor and six Council members are elected to four-year terms. <br /> <br />The Economic Development Authority and various city boards and <br />commissions advise the City Council. The Ambulance Commission, Civil <br />Service Commission, Planning Commission, Heritage Preservation <br />Commission, Marina Board, Library Board, Public Safety Board, <br />Streets/Parks Commissionl Tree Board, Utility Boardl and the <br />Recreation Commission serve in an advisory capacity to the Council. <br /> <br />The City employs a staff of 42. <br /> <br />The annual general fund budget is approximately $2.8 million. <br /> <br />The Position <br /> <br />The City Administrator reports to the Mayor and City Council and is <br />responsible for planning and coordinating city governmental activities. <br /> <br />Sgecific duties and responsibilities include: <br /> <br />. Oversee the preparation of the annual budget and report to the <br />Council on the financial status of the city. <br /> <br />. Make recommendations to the City Council on the hire and dismissal of <br />employees. <br /> <br />. Develop and issue administrative rules and procedures necessary to <br />ensure the proper functioning of all departments. <br /> <br />. Interpret and execute ordinances and City Council directives and <br />represent the city in local, regional, state and federal activities. <br /> <br />. Coordinate activities of and serve in an advisory capacity to all elected <br />and appointed officials. <br /> <br />. Oversee purchasing procedures. <br /> <br />.
