<br />E-Mailed to Council on 5/3/01 at 11 :34 a.m. <br />April 25, 2001 Council Minutes <br /> <br />Council Member Capra questioned whether the City incurred the expenditures with the <br />previous accessibility request. Mr. March stated that the equipment had been donated <br />and the City had incurred minimal expense for asphalt. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Travis. seconded by Mayor Swedberg to proceed with <br />the milling and fixing of the curb at 6961 Dupre Road. Ayes - 4. Nays - 1 <br />(Broussard Vickers). Motion carried. <br /> <br />2. Temporary Summer Help <br /> <br />Mr. March stated that the Public Works seasonal worker from the previous year has <br />expressed interest in working for the City again this year. Mr. March explained that A.J. <br />has agreed to work for the same rate as last year ($10/hour), excluding benefits. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Capra. seconded by Council Member Nelson to <br />authorize the hiring of temporary. seasonal help for the Public Works Department. <br />All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />3. Civil Defense Siren <br /> <br />Mr. March stated that he had met with a representative from Federal Warning Systems in <br />regards to the current siren and the possibility of securing an additional siren. A proposal <br />would be forwarded for review. Mr. March also stated that the additional siren would be <br />located at City Hall and would be powered by the generator. The existing siren would be <br />relocated to ensure 100% coverage for the City. Mr. March explained that the <br />representative had recommended keeping the controls for the siren inside the building to <br />make the siren more reliable. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra questioned the approximate cost for the SIren. Mr. March <br />indicated an additional siren would be approximately $17,000. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Swedberg. seconded by Council Member Broussard Vickers to <br />accept the future recommendation of the Fire Chief with regards to the Tornado <br />Warning Siren. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />4. 7121 Centerville Road (Baron Property) <br /> <br />Mr. March updated Council on the Baron property. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson stated she felt it would be okay to extend the deadline due to a <br />late thaw and excessive rain. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra questioned the recourse Council would have if the property was <br />not brought into compliance by June 1, 2001. Mr. Hoeft indicated the City would have to <br />cite the property owner with a violation of the Code, which puts the matter into the <br />criminal court system which subjects the property owner to fines if the property is not <br /> <br />Page 9 of 12 <br />
