Printing and Faxing

LaserFiche works with most Wmdows compatible printers. Compulink recommends using a laser printer
(not dot matrix, bubble-jet or inkjet) with at least 4 :ME of RAM for image printing. LaserFiche can print
images, OCR'd text, or files stored in their native format. LaserFiche can fax documents using nearly any
fax software (single user or network) that includes a Wmdows printer driver and supports faxing of
raster images. Users' ability to print and fax documents is determined by their security rights.

Electronic Document Support

The latest version of LaserFiche offers support of electronic documents in their native file format. With
the addition of electronic document support, users can now archive documents in LaserFiche in their
native format with "drag and drop" simplicity. These files can be easily viewed by launching their native
application from within LaserFiche.

S ecuriry

LaserFiche's security system provides for system <<feature rights" that govern users' global access to
system functions, including viewing annotations, as well as <<object rights" to specific documents or
folders. The system administrator can specify exactly what each user can do with any document on the
system. Furthermore, by allowing for the inheritance of rights via user groups and parent folders, the
system administrator can gready simplify the assignment of rights. Administrators can also use redaction
to keep specific information confidential.

LASERFICHE RETRIEVAL CLIENTS

To bring basic document imaging to every dedicated PC, Compulink recommends LaserFiche Retrieval
Clients. Retrieval clients can work with the LaserFiche Client/Server to bring imaging to networked PCs.

Expanded Access and S calabiliry

Retrieval clients represent a new concept in licensing designed by Compulink Management Center, Inc.
as a benefit for customers. Retrieval clients create a separate pool of view-only licenses from which the
LaserFiche server can draw to allow access to the database. These clients are in addition to the pool of
full-access licenses, which the server normally carries. Retrieval clients are able to search for, view and
print documents, but cannot add, delete, move or modify files. Retrieval clients work with full-access
LaserFiche clients to dramatically increase access to documents with minimal cost. By using retrieval
clients, organizations can give every member access to documents.

Retrieval clients fill the need for information management systems that are scaleable, open and accessible
without sacrificing security or affordability. As organizations need to enhance the range of document
imaging and document management, increasing access to existing systems will become increasingly
important. Compulink designed retrieval clients to meet the demands on IT departments in
organizations that need to expand access to their imaging systems.

THE CITY OF CENTERVILLE

LASERFICHE DOCUMENT IMAGING SYSTEM SOFTWARE

9
