j>

#'

MEMO

DATE: March 9,2001

TO : Honorable Mayor and Council

FROM: Jim March

RE : Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Blake, 1275 Mound Trail

**********************************************************************

This item was briefly discussed at the last meeting. Included in your packet is a letter
that was received from Mr. and Mrs. Blake. Also included is my initial correspondence
to Carl Beuchler when he asked about varying his home from the existing building pad
and the attorney's opinion on the matter.

Earlier this week, Mrs. Blake stopped in to City Hall and I spoke to her at length about
this subject. I refuted some of her claims in the letter, particularly her statement that her
husband and her builder had previously discussed the placement of their home on the lot
with me.

Mrs. Blake had admitted to me on the phone, prior to the letter being submitted, that
neither her husband nor her builder had spoke to me. When Mrs. Blake stopped at City
Hall, I asked her why she submitted a letter that stated her husband and her builder spoke
to Ken Cook and myself. She replied, "my husband might not have spoke to you, but my
builder did remember your name". Another staff member witnessed this statement.

I never recall ever speaking to a Mr. Wayne Blake. I do recall a conversation with Mr.
Mike Koch where he inquired how to access the building site due to road restrictions.
The issue was brought before Council for an overweight permit.

It is obvious that the Blake's are upset with the placement of their home on the lot. It is
also known that the developer told them that they could not move their proposed home
off of the existing building pad and that he would oppose any attempt of receiving a
variance.

.
