Kelly Miller Circus

Parks & Recreation Committee
Meeting Minutes May 9, 2006

The committee spent the bulk of the meeting discussing and delegating items that need to be done prior to
the circus on May 31, 2006. Tickets will be distributed to the ticket outlets on May 10, 2006. Pre-sale
tickets are $5 for children under 12, $9 for adults, and children under 2 years of age are free. The outlets
are as follows:

Ticket Outlets
Apple Academy of Centerville Child
Care
Apple Academy of Hugo Child Care
Center Mart (Marathon)
Centerville City
Hall
Centerville Pet Foods

Corner Express
Hugo Feed Mill and Hardware

1845 Main Street, Centerville
5525 141st Street North, Hugo
1801 Main Street, Centerville

651~762-8911
651-407-8800
651-426-4880

1880 Main Street, Centerville
1885 Main Street, Centerville
1990 Main Street, Centerville
5582 146th Street North, Hugo

651-429-3232
651-762-7598
651-426~6608
651-429-3361

Per the contract with the Circus, the committee has the ability to sell banners to businesses to hang inside
the Big Top with the limit of six (6) at 4 x 6'. The Circus recommended charging $100 per business to do
so. Chairperson Peterson has contacted Gator Signs regarding making banners and the cost was over
$100 per banner. Because oftime constraints and the amount of work involved, the committee members
decided to offer the businesses who have supported the committee by consenting to sell circus tickets the
option of hanging a banner inside the big top at no charge to them, but the business would have to supply
the banner.

Motion was made by Committee Member Seeley, seconded by Committee Member Merkel to offer
businesses who are circus ticket outlets the option of hanging a banner in the Big Top for at least
one of the two performances at no charge if the banner is supplied by the business. All in favor.
Motion carried unanimously.

The Kelly Miller Circus provided the committee with 800 coloring contest forms which Committee
Member Amundsen will drop off at Centerville Elementary School. The winner will be chosen by the
Circus Staff and announced at each performance. There are area businesses that ordered pre-sale tickets,
but opted to donate the tickets back to the community. The Parks & Recreation Committee has 40
children tickets and is looking for a way to donate them to a group or groups who perhaps have financial
constraints and would not otherwise be able to see the circus.

Committee Member Amundsen worked with the Circus regarding advertising and the Circus has agreed
to pay for 2/3 of the cost of 9,200 fliers to be included in the Quad Press which will be distributed May
23,2006. The Circus also provided the copies to the Quad Press. The cost to the City will be $150. The
committee is also looking for volunteers to be crowd control representatives at each performance.

20f3
