<br />~ <br /> <br />Parks & Recreation Committee <br />Meeting Minutes March 2, 2005 <br /> <br />Session I was held, but Session IT was cancelled due to lack of interest. Ms. Stephan will contact <br />Ms. Smith to determine if the funds were spent on the first session. <br /> <br />Earth Day Particioation - Saturday. Aoril 23. 2005 <br /> <br />The committee had a discussion regarding their participation in Earth Day activities. Vice- <br />Chairperson LeBlanc mentioned Wargo Nature Center has activities scheduled and are looking <br />for volunteers. The Centennial Little League will be cleaning Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park <br />and the area behind Centerville Elementary School. Chairperson Peterson and Committee <br />Member Peil are committed to activities with Little League on Saturday, April 23rd. Vice- <br />Chairperson LeBlanc will try to arrange the cleaning of one park, probably Tracie McBride <br />Memorial Park. Committee Member Seeley will work with Vice-Chairperson LeBlanc on this <br />activity. Funding for refreshments will be requested at the next meeting. <br /> <br />Recoenition Plaques for Former Parks & Recreation Committee Members <br /> <br />The committee was unable to present plaques to previous members. Chairperson Peterson <br />invited Ms. Julie Lindsay and Mr. Andre Ziegler to attend the meeting to receive their plaques, <br />but neither was able to attend. Chairperson Peterson will deliver Mr. Ziegler's plaque, Vice- <br />Chairperson LeBlanc and Committee Member Seeley will deliver Ms. Lindsay's plaque. <br /> <br />Requestine Charitable Gamblin!! Funds for Park Play Equioment <br /> <br />The committee discussed requesting charitable gambling funds from Dead Broke Saddle Club <br />and the Spring Lake Park Lions for park play equipment at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park. <br />Chairperson Peterson suggested requesting $10,000 from each for park play equipment. Ms. <br />Stephan will work with Chairperson Peterson to draft a letter. <br /> <br />VTI. UPDATES <br /> <br />Submittine 2005 DNR Grant / Letter to DNR <br /> <br />The Grant Subcommittee submitted a letter to the DNR Grant Committee regarding non- <br />submittal of a grant application for 2005 due to unresolved issues with the widening of County <br />Road 14. Vice-Chairperson LeBlanc suggested Anoka County should work a trail into both <br />north and south bound 20th Avenue. Some discussion was had as far as the City Council signing <br />the Memorandum of Understanding with Anoka County and hopes that the issue will be resolved <br />with all parties satisfied, keeping the trails at the front of the issue. <br /> <br />St. Paul Water Utility Prooertv on Centerville Lake / Parks & Recreation Funds for Park <br />Land Aooraisal <br /> <br />Chairperson Peterson reported the city has been given a three (3) month extension for <br />negotiations and that he believes the St. Paul Water Utility is making a good faith effort to try <br />and resolve this issue before coming to the city to have it rezoned and then sold as residential. <br />Discussion was had as to the importance of the appraisal as park property and how this affects the <br />DNR grant application. <br /> <br />30f5 <br />
