City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />March 28, 2007 <br /> <br />new rides for kids aged 12 and under on Saturday from noon-6:00 p.m. Mr. Kieselhorst <br />stated that the battle of the teen bands would play on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to <br />8:00 p.m. He also stated that the Dario Band would play on Friday night before and <br />after the fireworks. He stated that a third band, Trout, would play for the younger crowd <br />and warm up for Uncle Chunk on Saturday evening. <br /> <br />Mr. Kieselhorst questioned whether the Lion’s would be responsible for the expenses <br />associated with LaCompany’s presence at the festival. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra stated that Council felt this was an historic educational expense. <br /> <br />Mr. Kieselhorst questioned whether Council desired the Lions to financially support any <br />other expenditures associated with the festival. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra stated the Governor has not yet committed to attending and she requested <br />that the City fund the official reception for the dignitaries from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. <br />and the park dedication reception from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Councilmember Paar questioned whether the Governor’s office could be contacted <br />regarding a commitment. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra stated the head of the DNR and a Metropolitan Council representative have <br />committed. She stated a call could be made to Senator Vandeveer requesting him to <br />speak to the Governor on the City’s behalf. <br /> <br />City Administrator Larson felt that if contacted closer to the date of the event, a higher <br />chance of a positive response would be obtained due to scheduling. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra stated that Anoka’s 150 photos would be displayed at St. Genevieve’s <br />Community Center on Friday, August 3, 2007. She also stated that the photos would be <br />displayed at Main Street Bank two weeks prior to the festival. <br /> <br />Mr. Kieselhorst stated that a polka band would play on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at <br />the festival. <br /> <br />Councilmember Paar questioned the possibility of having fireworks on Friday and <br />Saturday evenings. <br /> <br />Mr. Kieselhorst questioned the financing of both evenings. Councilmember Paar stated <br />Friday is the kickoff and Saturday had the most going on. Council Member Paar stated <br />his willingness to dedicate money for Saturday’s fireworks if it was in the budget. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lee stated that the parade budget is $8,000 and he was unsure if the <br />parade event would utilize the entire amount and suggested that remaining funds from <br />this item be used to offset expenditures associated with the fireworks on Saturday. <br /> <br />Page 3 of 9 <br />
