City of Centerville
Council Meeting Minutes
May 11, 2005
Council Member Terway said he thinks the City needs to look into the future and how the
development is going to affect roads and transportation and there is a lot of light rail
corridors being discussed and he would rather be proactive than reactive and this says to
him that the City is concerned about transportation whether Members support new roads
or light rail.
Council Member Lee commented that he read information that if users of light rail had to
actually pay for the entire cost of light rail they would not be able to afford tickets. He
then said that he thinks light rail is an incredible waste of taxpayer money to the benefit
of very few people.
Council Member Paar agreed.
Mayor Capra commented that light rail is not in Centerville and not even on this end of
Anoka County. She then said that she does not know if it is completely the answer but
she is not so opposed to it because if it is successful then they are more apt to get the
Rush Line completed over here.
Mayor Capra directed Staff to prepare a Resolution for Council consideration at the next
meeting as it appears there are three in favor and two opposed to portions of it.
10.Mediation Services Request – Mediation Services for Anoka County Day
Motion by Council Member Lakso, seconded by Council Member Lee, to approve
the Mediation Services Request as presented.
