<br />Motion by Council Member Broussard Vickers. seconded by Council Member Sweeney to <br />direct Staff to draft a letter to the Hasiaks giving them until May 1. 2001 to obtain the <br />building permit or the City would move to declare the building a hazardous structure and <br />directing them to tear down the "lean to" within two (2) weeks. All in favor. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Public Works Building Signage (7087 - 20th Avenue South) <br /> <br />Mr. March stated that Mr. Houle had indicated he needed additional information prior to being <br />able to provide a cost for a proposed sign for the new public works/police substation. Mr. Houle <br />would like to know whether the City wants a single or double-faced sign, cutout letters or free <br />standing letters with the background removed, and what size letters the City wants. <br /> <br />Concensus was the sign should be two-sided, have letters similar to the signs in Eagle Pass, and to <br />allow Mr. Houle the discretion to chose the size of the letters. <br /> <br />Turcotte Purchase Agreement and 81. Genevieve Property Appraisal <br /> <br />Mr. March stated the appraisals were for informational purposes. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber questioned whether the Church had contacted the City to discuss the property. <br />Mr. March indicated they had not as of this time but suggested the City could send a letter to the <br />Church. <br /> <br />) <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber stated that he would discuss this matter with Father Fitzgerald. <br /> <br />Mr. Hoeft stated he had drafted a standard purchase agreement for the City to execute if it desired <br />to purchase the Turcotte property. Council needs to determine whether they wish to move forward <br />with the purchase or, ifnot, determine a time frame for proceeding. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber stated the City should consider when Ms. Turcotte will be able to move into new <br />housing and when the lease will expire for Ms. Turcotte's renter. Mr. Hoeft explained if the City <br />purchased the property, let the lease run out and did not renew it, the City would still be <br />responsible for relocation fees. Mr. Hoeft stated that relocation fees would excessive if one (1) <br />residence where to be relocated. <br /> <br />Council Member Sweeney questioned the amount of relocation fees. Council Member Broussard <br />Vickers stated it could possibly be $2,000. City Attorney Hoeft indicated he was not sure but <br />thought the amount could be less than $2,000. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers questioned whether the City would be responsible for any <br />rent difference as a result of the relocation. City Attorney Hoeft stated the City was required to <br />provide comparable housing. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber expressed a desire to determine when the lease for the renter expires. <br /> <br />) <br /> <br />Mr. Hoeft indicated that if the City executed the purchase agreement they would be legally <br />required to pay relocation fees. <br /> <br />Page 12 of 15 <br />
