City ofCenterville Meeting Minutes September 25, 1996 MOTION by Buckbee, seconded by Brenner to set the date of October 23, 1996, at 6:00 P.M. for a public hearing. Motion carried unanimously. Nyberg stated the cost of the project would be a percentage and assessed to each property owner. He would contact Joyce Stevens regarding her assessment. Nyberg stated Danell had talked to the County and the best way is to shift all the assessments onto Outlot C since Gerald owned it, then Rocky wouldn't have the assessment. Council Table - Wilharber stated March had spoke with Northern Forest Products and they could supply the city with names of persons who do custom woodworking. Issue was tabled. NEW BUSINESS: Animal Control Contract - March had spoken with the police department and Otter Lake would be more convenient than Anoka County Humane Society. MOTION by Buckbee, seconded by Helmbrecht that city staff notifY Anoka County regarding terminating the contract and contact Otter Lake to use their services. Motion carried unanimously. Regional Meeting - Wilharber asked if anyone was interested in attending the regional meeting. Due to schedule conflicts no council members would be in attendance. March suggested, Gaustad and Westbrock and himself attend. MOTION by Wilharber, seconded by Brenner to allow March, Gaustad and Westbrock attend the regional meeting on October 17, in Watertown. Motion carried unanimously. Council Wages - Wilharber explained the current montWy wage is $85.00 for council members and $175.00 for Mayor. Buckbee suggested an increase to $150.00 for council and $200.00 per month for the Mayor. Wilharber included mileage expense, extra meetings, and projects then suggested an increase in both Council and Mayors pay. Brenner suggested $225.00 per month for the Mayor. Wilharber suggested tabling the issue until the ordinance was looked at and what would need to be done. Letter of Support, KARE about kids - MOTION by Helmbrecht, seconded by Brenner to send the KARE about kids, letter of support to the Anoka County Commissioners. Motion carried unanimously. Lease purchase of truck, salvage value of old plow - Wilharber questioned if it would be purchased or leased? March stated Paul recommend to purchase the truck. Wilharber commented purchasing a smaller truck that can plow and do other jobs instead of getting a large plow truck that will have limited uses. Helmbrecht asked if this was included in the ~ 1997 budget. March said no but the city does have a fund balance. 5
