~

TRAINING

We are fortunate to have leadership in our Department that supports and understands the importance of
training to make its employees better public servants. This Department provides training beyond the basic
needs and officers are able to specialize in areas that interest them. For a department of our size, it is
impressive that we have this much diversified training.

Our Department continues to focus on training our officers with the community oriented policing
strategies to involve our citizens to work with us to solve problems. The Peace Officers Standards and
Training (POST) Board mandated training in a number of areas this last year and many classes were
offered under the use of force area this last year. The use of force classes trained officers with skills for
self-defense, handcuffing, straight night stick, and chemical agents.

The following is a list of training our officers attending in 1996:

LEGAL

MANAGEMENT

Sexual Harassment
151 Responder to Sexual Assault
DUl & Traffic Law Update
Anoka County Attorney Update
Intoxilyzer Refresher

Communications I
Communications II
Time Management
Police Management Concepts
IACP Annual Conference

a

SPECIAL TY

USE OF FORCE

First Responder
Helicopter Transports

Use of Force I
Use of Force II
Use of Force III
Use of Force IV
Anoka County Gamma Shoot
Anoka County Spring Shoot
Anoka County Summer Shoot
Anoka County Night Shoot
Close Quarter-Battle Pistol

Community Oriented Policing
Bicycle Patrol
Windows 95 Level 1
Windows 95 Level 2
Access For Windows

MEDICAL

Submitted by,
Sgt.
